Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of 501st O.G.
501st O.G. comes from the US breeder Rare Dankness and builds on the well-known Skywalker OG. The second parent is given as a Kush that the breeder does not name more precisely. The outcome is an Indica-dominant hybrid which, according to the strain description, combines high yields with a compact growth habit and impressive potency. There are no figures for THC or for the Indica share. The dense, resinous flowers, some of them tinged with purple, are striking. The strain is photoperiod and available here as regular seed: the seeds produce male and female plants, which makes it interesting for selectors and hobby breeders who are looking for a mother plant of their own or want to carry on working with the Skywalker line. Also regular and from the same breeder is Venom OG Regular.
Who Is 501st O.G. For?
501st O.G. is a strain for anyone who would like to select classic Kush character themselves. It suits:
- Kush connoisseurs and fans of the Skywalker genetics who like sweet, spicy aromas
- Selectors who want to choose their mother plant from twelve seeds
- Hobby breeders who use male plants for their own crosses
- Growers with smaller tents or a Sea of Green set-up who need compact plants
- Consumers who appreciate a heavy, relaxing effect in the evening
If you want only female plants without any selection work, a feminised strain is the better choice. You can find more lines from American breeders under US Genetics.
Growing 501st O.G.: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
The strain description cites compact, bushy growth that is suitable for smaller tents or a Sea of Green. Flowering time is about 8 to 9 weeks; with this photoperiod strain it only begins after the switch to 12/12. The yield is described as high, especially with good ventilation and clean nutrient management – a figure in g/m² is missing. As these are regular seeds, it is best to germinate more seeds than the number of plants you want to keep and determine the sex in pre-flowering. Male plants are removed unless pollination is wanted. You will find the basics on climate and feeding in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, 501st O.G. is harvested in early to mid-October. The strain description cites a moderate to warm climate and good mould resistance thanks to the firm buds. Height and yield per plant are not given. You can find more regular strains for outdoors under regular outdoor seeds. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of 501st O.G.
According to the strain description, 501st O.G. smells sweet and spicy, with classic Kush funk. The flavour rests on an earthy Kush base and finishes sweet. The description speaks of a distinctive OG aroma profile and of purple buds with a resinous texture. The manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. The effect is described as physically relaxing, calming and slightly sedating – a deep full-body stone that acts emphatically both physically and mentally and suits the evening. The THC content is given as high; a percentage is missing. With regular seeds you should also expect differences between individual plants. How the effect turns out in each case depends on phenotype, dose and individual tolerance.
