Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Auto Dark Devil
For Auto Dark Devil, Sweet Seeds brought together two autoflowering lines: Big Devil XL Auto and a purple-flowering auto Kush whose origin the breeder places in Chitral, Pakistan. According to the strain description, the Big Devil side contributes the XL genetics and the Kush side the purple colour. Sweet Seeds lists the strain as 100% autoflowering; the manufacturer states neither a ratio of Indica to Sativa nor a THC or CBD value. The seeds are feminised. The most striking feature is the colour: around 80% of specimens show deep purple to almost black flowers. As an award, the manufacturer cites 1st place as "Auto of the Year" (Soft Secrets, High Life Cup 2014). Another autoflower from Sweet Seeds in our range is Auto Devil Cream.
Who Is Auto Dark Devil For?
Auto Dark Devil combines striking colour with a very short cycle. It suits:
- Colour lovers looking for purple to almost black flowers
- Growers who want to harvest around 8.5 weeks after germination
- Indoor growers who grow in a ScrOG or Sea of Green
- Outdoor gardeners looking for a fast autoflower for the warm months
- Connoisseurs of sweet, fruity aromas with citrus and incense notes
If you place value on a documented THC content, you will not find it here – the manufacturer does not state one. You can find more autoflowering strains for open ground under automatic seeds outdoor.
Growing Auto Dark Devil: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, Sweet Seeds gives a cycle of about 8.5 weeks from germination. That is the entire time from seed to harvest; the manufacturer does not state a separate flowering time. The plants grow 80 to 130 cm tall and yield 400 to 600 g/m². They grow with a strong main stem, many side shoots and a dominant main cola. The strain description recommends ScrOG and Sea of Green. With an autoflower, there is no need to switch the light cycle. Because the cycle is so short, there is little time to make up for growth stalls: it is best to put the seedlings straight into the final pot and train gently. You can read more about light, climate and training in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, the manufacturer states 50 to 200 g per plant. For outdoors too, Sweet Seeds highlights that around 80% of the plants show purple phenotypes. The strain description does not give an outdoor height or a harvest month; with an autoflower, the harvest date depends on the time of sowing anyway. Schedule the run for the warmest and brightest weeks and choose a sunny, sheltered and airy spot. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Auto Dark Devil
Sweet Seeds describes the scent of Auto Dark Devil as sweet and fruity with notes of citrus and incense. In the flavour, creamy and spicy-fruity tones with a Kush undertone are added. The manufacturer speaks of an exotic terpene profile but names neither individual terpenes nor lab values. The effect is described as relaxing and slightly psychedelic: a pleasant body effect with clear, cheerful moments. Sweet Seeds does not give a THC or CBD content in the strain description – so we do not add a figure. The flowers are resinous and, in around 80% of the plants, coloured deep purple to almost black. Without a percentage, this applies all the more: work your way up with a small amount. How intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
