Genetics & Origin of Auto Gelato
Gelato, named after the Italian word for ice cream, is counted by Female Seeds among the most interesting Cookies crosses on the market – known for a complex, unmistakable palette of aromas and a powerful, long-lasting and yet peaceful high. For the autoflowering version, the breeder combined Gelato #33 with Auto NL and Auto Critical. Female Seeds credits the two auto parents with the strong, very vigorous growth: the plants develop a pyramid-shaped structure with several side branches. The manufacturer does not state exact proportions of Indica and Sativa, but it speaks of a real Indica powerhouse. According to Female Seeds, records show peak THC values of 23%; the breeder does not give a CBD value. The seeds are feminised and flower independently of the light cycle. For comparison: a photoperiod Gelato by Nirvana is also in our range.
Who Is Auto Gelato For?
Auto Gelato brings a well-known aroma profile into the autoflower cycle. It suits:
- Gelato and Cookies fans who want to grow without switching the light cycle
- Growers who plan for 10 to 12 weeks from sowing to harvest
- Indoor growers with room for pyramid-shaped, branched plants
- Outdoor gardeners who prefer plants of 60 to 120 cm
- Consumers who appreciate a powerful yet balanced high
It is less suitable if speed is the main thing – some automatics are ready for harvest earlier. You will find a selection under best autoflowering seeds.
Growing Auto Gelato: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Female Seeds states 10 to 12 weeks from sowing to harvest – that is the entire life cycle; the manufacturer does not give a separate flowering time. For the height, the figures differ from one another: the data sheet speaks of 80 to 150 cm for indoors, while elsewhere the manufacturer speaks of 70 to 110 cm. So it is better to plan for some headroom. The data sheet gives the yield as 350 to 500 g/m². According to the manufacturer, the plants grow strongly and very vigorously, with a pyramid-shaped structure and several side branches. The very dense, resinous buds need good air movement, and because of the strong scent a carbon filter makes sense. There is more on climate and light in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
For outdoors, the data sheet lists a height of 60 to 120 cm and 50 to 180 g per plant. Female Seeds does not state a harvest month or a climate recommendation; with an autoflower, the sowing date determines when harvest takes place anyway. The 10 to 12 weeks from sowing stated by the manufacturer serve as a guide. A sunny, sheltered spot is the best prerequisite. You can find more strains for open ground under automatic seeds outdoor. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Auto Gelato
When it comes to aroma, Female Seeds promises a lot: strong earthy notes on the inhale turn into a long-lasting blend of mint, caramel and citrus fruit; the data sheet sums up the flavour as sweet, fresh and fruity. The manufacturer does not state a lab terpene profile. It describes the buds as very dense, resinous and fragrant, in a vivid green; some late-flowering phenotypes can develop purple hues. On the effect, it says: a powerful yet peaceful cerebral high, accompanied by a very relaxing feeling in the body – described in the data sheet as powerful and yet balanced. According to Female Seeds, the 23% THC mentioned are peak values from records; the manufacturer does not state an average value. How intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
