Genetics & Origin of Banana Fumes
Banana Fumes is a four-way cross from Original Sensible Seeds: on one side is Honey Boo Boo × Strawberry Banana, on the other Orange Push Pop × Animal Mintz. The breeder lists the strain as a balanced hybrid with 50% Sativa and 50% Indica and gives the THC content as up to 35% – this is the upper limit stated by the manufacturer, not a guaranteed value. It does not state a CBD value. Original Sensible Seeds describes the plants as compact, resinous and very aromatic. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod; flowering therefore only sets in after the switch to 12/12. A Strawberry Banana by DNA Genetics is in our range as a version from another breeder, and if you would like to stay with the banana theme, you will also find Banana Sherbet from Original Sensible Seeds.
Who Is Banana Fumes For?
Banana Fumes is bred for flavour, resin and quantity. It suits:
- Growers looking for tropical, creamy banana aromas
- Indoor growers with room for plants 90 to 140 cm tall
- Outdoor gardeners who can harvest in early October
- Yield-focused growers aiming for up to 800 g/m²
- Consumers with high tolerance who prefer very potent strains
If you are looking for a mild strain or have little tolerance, up to 35% THC is not the best choice for you. You can find more hybrids under feminised seeds.
Growing Banana Fumes: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
The data sheet from Original Sensible Seeds states 55 to 65 days of flowering, while elsewhere the manufacturer speaks of 56 to 63 days – around eight to nine weeks. The plants grow 90 to 140 cm tall indoors and, according to the breeder, stay compact. It gives the yield as up to 800 g/m². Such quantities mean heavy flower clusters: stakes or a net take the load off the shoots, and good air movement keeps the resinous flowers dry in the final weeks. Because the strain is very aromatic, a carbon filter is part of the equipment. There is more on climate and training in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to the manufacturer, Banana Fumes reaches 120 to 180 cm and produces up to 1,500 g per plant. The manufacturer states early October as harvest time. Original Sensible Seeds describes the strain outdoors as resilient, with intensely coloured flowers and strong resin production. For plants of this size you need a sunny spot, plenty of root space and sturdy supports. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Terpenes of Banana Fumes
According to Original Sensible Seeds, the aroma combines sweet, tropical banana with citrus, creamy Kush Mint undertones and a slight gas note; the breeder describes the flavour as tropical, creamy, fresh and full-bodied. It names caryophyllene, limonene and myrcene as the dominant terpenes, with caryophyllene in first place. The manufacturer describes the effect as euphoric, creative and mood-lifting, accompanied by gentle physical relaxation without couchlock. It therefore sees the strain as versatile – for the day as well as the evening, for creative hours and sociable get-togethers. Up to 35% THC according to the manufacturer is a very high value: dose carefully, because how intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
