Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Blackjack
Blackjack is a cross of Black Domina and Jock Horror that Nirvana offers as a feminised, photoperiod strain. The breeder describes it as Sativa-dominant but does not give a percentage ratio. The flowers are striking: very compact, grape-like in shape and with a high resin content. Nirvana gives the THC content as 16 to 20% and the CBD content as 0.1 to 1%. As terpenes, the manufacturer names humulene, caryophyllene and pinene. Flowering only begins after the light cycle is switched to 12/12; Blackjack can be grown both indoors and outdoors. If you would like to get to know the parent lines, you will find Black Domina Regular by Sensi Seeds and the autoflowering Auto Jock Horror by Nirvana in our range.
Who Is Blackjack For?
Blackjack is a resinous hybrid with classic genetics. It suits:
- Growers who work in a SCROG with a net
- Lovers of dense, grape-like and very resinous flowers
- Outdoor gardeners who can harvest in early October
- Fans of earthy, spicy aromas with a citrus note
- Consumers who appreciate a long-lasting effect
If you depend on little odour, bear in mind that Nirvana describes the smell as overwhelmingly pungent – the strain is less suitable for that. You can find more strains for the grow room under feminised indoor seeds.
Growing Blackjack: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
After the switch to 12/12, Blackjack needs 8 to 9 weeks of flowering until harvest, according to Nirvana. It is best to judge the exact harvest time by the trichomes. According to the manufacturer, the plants grow medium-tall and reach around 100 cm; according to Nirvana, the stretch at the start of flowering is slight in the grow room. The breeder expressly recommends Blackjack for SCROG, i.e. working with a net. It states a yield of 400 to 500 g/m². Because of the very strong smell, a powerful activated carbon filter is necessary. More on this in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, Blackjack is harvested in early October, according to Nirvana. There, the manufacturer considers around 650 g per plant possible. It does not give a height for outdoors; according to Nirvana, the plants stretch outdoors at the start of flowering and double in size, so plan for enough space. The structure is considered compact and the resin production stable. A sunny, airy spot helps keep the very dense flowers dry until harvest. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Terpenes of Blackjack
According to Nirvana, Blackjack smells and tastes of citrus and earth, carried by a spicy note; the manufacturer describes the smell as overwhelmingly pungent. The smoke is considered thick, strong and aromatic with a long finish. Nirvana lists humulene, caryophyllene and pinene as terpenes. There are two descriptions of the effect: the manufacturer speaks of an immediate feeling of focus, motivation and mental energy; in addition, the effect is described as euphoric, relaxing and long-lasting. With 16 to 20% THC, the strain is in the strong range, and the CBD content is low at 0.1 to 1%. How strong the effect is depends on dose and personal tolerance.
