Genetics & Origin of Brains Choice
Brains Choice is, as the name says, the personal choice of the breeder behind KC Brains. He grew the mother from seeds that a Jamaican had given him in a café in North Holland: Lambsbread, a legendary Jamaican strain, strong but not exclusively Sativa. As the cross, KC Brains names this Lambsbread Jamaica from 1994 and the in-house Leda Uno from 1996; White Widow is also contained via the line. After just one cross, the breeder observed the new F1 for two years for quality and stability before giving it its name. He lists Brains Choice as a hybrid with an Indica emphasis and as the flagship for the “stoned” side of his programme. He does not state exact proportions or values for THC and CBD. The seeds are regular and photoperiod – so male and female plants grow.
Who Is Brains Choice For?
Brains Choice is a tall-growing hybrid with a history. It suits:
- Outdoor gardeners with space for plants up to 2.5 m tall
- Growers who want to harvest outdoors as early as the end of September
- Selectors and hobby breeders who work with regular seeds
- Friends of classic lines such as Lambsbread and White Widow
- Consumers looking for a strong, relaxing high
Because of its size outdoors, it is less suitable for small balconies or inconspicuous gardens. You can find the entire selection of regular seed under regular seeds.
Growing Brains Choice: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, KC Brains gives around 9 weeks of flowering, with a range of 8 to 10 weeks, at a height of about 100 cm. The breeder does not state a yield in g/m². On the structure he writes that the flowers cluster along the branches instead of forming a single solid cola at the ends. It is therefore worth guiding the side branches – with a net, for example – so that they too get enough light. With regular seeds, it is best to germinate all five seeds and determine the sex in pre-flowering; male plants are removed unless pollination is wanted. As a photoperiod strain, Brains Choice only flowers after the light cycle is switched to 12/12. You will find the basics in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Brains Choice shows its size outdoors, and in the shop it is classified as an outdoor strain. KC Brains states a height of 2.5 m there, a harvest at the end of September and a yield of up to 900 g. The early ripening suits regions where October already turns wet and cool. Plan for plenty of space and support the long, flower-laden branches in good time. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Brains Choice
KC Brains gives no information on aroma and flavour; the breeder does not state a terpene profile either, and we do not add any guesses. He describes the appearance in more detail: ripe flowers show a dense mixture of white and orange hairs. He attributes the orange to the Lambsbread, while the White Widow heritage shows in the many frosty trichomes on the flowers and the leaves close to the flowers. KC Brains assigns the effect to the “stoned” side of its range; a strong, relaxing and calming high is described. The breeder does not give a THC value. With regular seeds, individual plants can also differ from one another. How intense the effect is depends on phenotype, dose and individual tolerance.
Note: Effect information is based on manufacturer data and user experience and does not constitute medical advice.
