Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Cali Tsunami
There is a little story behind Cali Tsunami: a Swiss breeder and friend who now works in California brought Helvetic Seeds a few seeds of the cross he had created there. In this line, according to the manufacturer, he had found phenotypes with up to 30% THC. Helvetic Seeds was only able to sow seven seeds, among them plants with up to 28%; Cali Tsunami is one of these selections. The breeder gives the genotype as ChemD × CaliSunset and the ratio as 50% Indica and 50% Sativa. On average, Helvetic Seeds states 26% THC, and more depending on the grower's skill; the manufacturer does not state a CBD value. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod. From the same house comes NLX, a cross of Northern Lights and White Widow.
Who Is Cali Tsunami For?
Cali Tsunami is a very potent hybrid with a two-part effect. It suits:
- Consumers with a high tolerance looking for strains very rich in THC
- Growers who want to harvest large and very dense flowers
- Indoor gardeners who plan for 8 to 9 weeks of flowering
- Lovers of Chemdog aromas with a fruity note
- Gardeners with larger requirements – there are packs of up to 100 seeds
It is less suitable for anyone looking for a mild strain or needing fixed figures for height and yield in advance. You can find bulk packs of other strains under Bulk Seeds.
Growing Cali Tsunami: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Helvetic Seeds gives the flowering time in the data sheet as 8 to 9 weeks and elsewhere speaks of 60 days at most. As the strain is photoperiod, flowering only begins after the switch to 12/12. In terms of growth, the breeder describes a typical hybrid: taller than an Indica, but without the wide internodal spacing of a Sativa. According to the manufacturer, the flowers become very large and very dense – good air movement in the final weeks therefore makes sense, and you can support heavy shoots. Helvetic Seeds gives no figures for height or for yield in g/m²; the breeder merely speaks of a productive plant. You will find the basics on climate and training in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
The strain is listed for both indoors and outdoors. Outdoors, harvest falls in early October, according to Helvetic Seeds. The manufacturer gives no details on height or yield per plant. Because the flowers become very dense, a sunny, airy spot is the better choice. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Cali Tsunami
According to Helvetic Seeds, the scent of Cali Tsunami is slightly reminiscent of Chemdog, accompanied by fruity undertones; the flavour is similar, spicy and fruity. The manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. The strain owes its name to the effect, which the breeder compares to riding a wave: at first you feel upbeat, creative and full of energy. After one to two hours the wave breaks – Helvetic Seeds then describes a heavy pressure that immediately makes you seek out your comfort zone. With an average of 26% THC, Cali Tsunami is very strong. So approach it with small amounts: how intense the effect is depends on dose and personal tolerance.
