Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Caramelo
According to Delicious Seeds, Caramelo unites Hawaiian, Afghan, Colombian and Mexican genetics. The breeder attributes the most important influence to the strain Lavender, which is known for its strong Indica effects; supplemented by Sativa traits, this results in a plant with 70% Sativa and 30% Indica that combines a cerebral and a relaxing effect. The THC content is given as 24.2%; the manufacturer does not state a CBD value. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod. According to the breeder, Caramelo has won numerous competitions, including first places at the Copa Thais Maria 2011 and the Cannarias Cannabis Cup 2012 as well as second places at the Copa C.A.B.A. 2015 and the Outdoor Fresh Cup Zaragoza 2016. Delicious Seeds also cites high mould resistance and medium resistance to pests. Cotton Candy and Sugar Candy come from the same house.
Who Is Caramelo For?
In the shop, Caramelo is rated as a strain for experienced growers. It suits:
- Growers with experience who can confidently manage vigorous growth
- SCROG users who want to spread many side shoots in the net
- Outdoor gardeners in cooler locations with harvest in early October
- Lovers of floral aromas with lavender, musk and liquorice
- Consumers with tolerance looking for a potent, Sativa-leaning strain
It is less suitable for beginners and for very small rooms, in which the vigorous growth quickly reaches its limits. You can find more potent strains under strains with a high THC content.
Growing Caramelo: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, Caramelo flowers for 60 to 70 days; Delicious Seeds states 400 to 450 g/m². Although the strain has a Sativa-dominant structure, according to the breeder it starts out like an Indica hybrid – which, according to its information, makes it ideal for SCROG. It responds well to pruning and forms numerous secondary branches, which can be used to make the most of area and yield. The growth can be vigorous: the manufacturer recommends managing the vegetative phase carefully so that the plant does not become too large. It does not give a height in centimetres. The high mould resistance is a plus in late flowering, but is no substitute for good ventilation. You will find the basics on training and climate in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to Delicious Seeds, Caramelo also thrives in cool climate zones; harvest is usually in early October. The manufacturer states 600 g per plant. Sufficient space is important, as according to its information this encourages abundant flowering. The high resistance to mould helps in a damp autumn; against pests the breeder only states medium resistance – regular checks are worthwhile. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Caramelo
The aroma of Caramelo is complex and very floral, with notes of musk, lavender and liquorice; if you crumble the flowers, according to Delicious Seeds it becomes more intense, spicy and pungent. The breeder describes the flavour as sweet and penetrating, with sweet fruit, a note reminiscent of walnuts and skunky undertones on the finish. It does not give a lab terpene profile. According to its information, the effect unfolds in two phases: first comes an energetic, euphoric, cerebral high that suits socialising, creativity or productive hours. This is followed by a relaxing body effect, during which the head stays stimulated and alert. With 24.2% THC, Caramelo is potent – dose carefully, because the intensity depends on dose and individual tolerance.
Note: Effect information is based on manufacturer data and user experience and does not constitute medical advice.
