Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Chemdog
Green House Seeds lists its Chemdog as a cross of OG Kush and Sour Diesel. According to the manufacturer, its growth is strongly reminiscent of OG Kush: long internodes and many side branches. The data sheet shows 70% Indica and 30% Sativa, plus 24.5% THC, 1.5% CBD and 0% CBN. According to the breeder, the plant can grow 150 to 170 cm tall; it does not say whether that applies indoors or outdoors. In 2008 the strain took second place at the IC-420 Growers Cup. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod, so flowering only begins after the light cycle is switched. You will also find both parent lines from other breeders in our range, such as OG Kush by White Label Seed Co. and Sour Diesel by Barney's Farm.
Who Is Chemdog For?
Chemdog is a high-yielding, potent hybrid with Diesel character. It suits:
- Growers who work with ScrOG or LST
- Yield-focused indoor growers – the manufacturer states up to 800 g/m²
- Outdoor gardeners with room for branching plants
- Fans of citrus and diesel aromas
- Consumers with a high tolerance who are looking for a narcotic effect
If you are looking for a light strain for the daytime, you are less well served by the heavy effect. You can find more high-yielding strains under High Yield & Short Flowering.
Growing Chemdog: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, Chemdog flowers for 9 weeks; Green House Seeds states a yield of up to 800 g/m². Because of the long internodes and the heavy branching, the manufacturer recommends ScrOG or LST: the shoots are trained flat under a net or tied down so that an even canopy of flowers is created. The breeder gives the height as 150 to 170 cm, without separating indoor and outdoor. So plan for enough headroom in the tent and do not send the plants into flowering too late. The pungent aroma calls for a powerful carbon filter. You will find instructions on netting and tying down in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to the manufacturer, production can reach 1,000 g per plant. There are two statements on the harvest date: the data sheet gives the first week of October in the northern hemisphere, while elsewhere the manufacturer speaks of the end of October. To be on the safe side, therefore, reckon with a long autumn and choose a sunny, sheltered spot. The branching plant needs room and supports. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Terpenes of Chemdog
Green House Seeds names three terpenes for Chemdog: α-pinene, α-humulene and β-caryophyllene. The manufacturer describes the aroma as pungent and intense, with a sour-lemony tone and a flavour of diesel and fuel. It sums up the effect briefly: narcotic, with a strong alteration of perception, and long-lasting. This makes Chemdog more of a strain for quiet hours than for an active day. At 24.5% THC it is strong; the data sheet gives the CBD content as 1.5%. So feel your way in with small amounts. How intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
