Genetics & Origin of Delicious Candy aka Cheese Candy
Delicious Candy, which is also listed under the name Cheese Candy, emerged from the cross Cheese × Caramelo. Delicious Seeds gives the genotype as 80% Indica and 20% Sativa and states 22.4% THC; the strain description does not contain a CBD value. The plants form large branches and numerous side shoots that load up with flowers. According to the breeder, the ratio of calyxes to leaves is very good, which makes manicuring easier and keeps the flowers well ventilated. The strain was honoured with a second place at the Copa Asociación MF 2014 and a third place at the Copa Asociaciones, Cannaval 2015. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod. Delicious Seeds also carries the parent strain Caramelo, and you will find a Cheese at Green House Seeds, among others.
Who Is Delicious Candy aka Cheese Candy For?
Delicious Candy combines cheese aroma with sweet caramel and a short ripening time. It suits:
- Lovers of strong Cheese aromas with a sweet note
- Indoor growers who want to harvest after 55 to 65 days
- Outdoor gardeners who would like to be finished in late September
- Growers in damper locations looking for an Indica that, according to the breeder, is very mould-resistant
- Consumers who like a relaxing, euphoric effect
It is less suitable for inconspicuous growing, because Delicious Seeds rates the smell as very strong. The autoflowering variant is Auto Delicious Candy; you can find more strains with a short flowering time under High Yield & Short Flowering.
Growing Delicious Candy aka Cheese Candy: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, according to Delicious Seeds, Delicious Candy ripens in 55 to 65 days and yields 450 to 550 g/m². The breeder does not state a height; however, the large branches and many side shoots need space and can be spread out well under a net. Thanks to the favourable ratio of calyxes to leaves, the flowers stay well ventilated, which, according to the breeder, contributes to the high resistance to fungal diseases. It rates the mould resistance as very high, the pest resistance as high and the watering tolerance as medium – so water in a rather controlled way. Because the smell is very strong, a powerful carbon filter is part of the set-up. You will find the basics in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, Delicious Candy is ready for harvest around late September. Under optimal conditions, Delicious Seeds states up to 1,000 g per plant. The heavily laden side shoots should be supported, and a sunny spot with plenty of root space helps to get close to the maximum value. With the early harvest and the very high mould resistance, the strain brings two characteristics that are helpful in the garden. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Delicious Candy aka Cheese Candy
Delicious Candy gives off a very strong, sweet scent with cheesy undertones, plus yeasty and caramel-like notes. The flavour mirrors the aroma: sharp Cheese and yeast notes, accompanied by a hint of liquorice and caramel – Delicious Seeds calls the profile complex and sweet. The manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. The breeder describes the effect as very relaxing and euphoric. It begins uplifting, without being too heady, and becomes more narcotic over time. At the same time, Delicious Seeds writes that the effect is not overwhelmingly sedating and that you remain functional during the day. At 22.4% THC the strain is potent; feel your way towards the right amount. The intensity depends on dose and individual tolerance.
