Genetics & Origin of Double Dunked
Double Dunked combines two resin-rich US strains. According to Elev8 Seeds, one parent strain, Oreoz, is created from Cookies and Cream × Secret Weapon and is described by the breeder as frosty and dark, with dense, light and dark green flowers. The second parent strain is Gary Payton, named after the basketball player: Elev8 Seeds calls it frosty and potent and points out that many growers guard the strain closely. The breeder lists the result as an Indica hybrid without stating a percentage. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod. Elev8 Seeds does not state THC or CBD values. You will find a Gary Payton as a strain of its own in our range from Barney's Farm: Gary Payton. Modified Payton also comes from Elev8 Seeds itself.
Who Is Double Dunked For?
Double Dunked appeals above all to growers who put resin and aroma above sheer mass. It suits:
- Fans of Oreoz, Gary Payton and related Cookies lines
- Indoor growers who plan for 8 to 9 weeks of flowering
- Growers with enough headroom for a medium to high stretch
- Lovers of earthy-sweet aromas with a creamy note
- Consumers looking for a relaxing effect
It is less suitable if you plan your grow around fixed yield and THC figures – the breeder puts numbers on neither. You can find more strains from the USA under US Genetics.
Growing Double Dunked: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Elev8 Seeds gives the flowering time as 8 to 9 weeks. The data sheet lists the stretch as medium to high, while elsewhere the breeder speaks of a medium stretch compared with most strains. So plan for room upwards and switch to 12/12 in good time, before the plants get too tall; topping and a net help to keep the canopy flat. Elev8 Seeds rates the yield as medium to high; the breeder does not state a figure in g/m² or a height in centimetres. The dense, resin-rich flowers need good air movement in the final weeks. The basics on this are in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
For open ground, harvest in the northern hemisphere is given for early October. Elev8 Seeds does not put a figure on a yield per plant or an outdoor height. Because of the medium to high stretch, it is worth topping the plants early and supporting heavy side shoots. A sunny, airy spot keeps the dense flowers dry in autumn. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Double Dunked
Elev8 Seeds sums up the aroma profile briefly as earthy and sweet; a creamy note is also described. A look at the parents reveals more: Oreoz reminds the breeder of S’mores by the campfire, with chocolate, creamy vanilla, spices and diesel. With Gary Payton it speaks of loud terpenes that are hard to describe – diesel, burnt rubber, gas, earth, cherries and cookies are named. The manufacturer does not state a lab terpene profile. The effect of Double Dunked is described as relaxing. Elev8 Seeds does not give a THC value but describes both parent strains as potent. How intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
