Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Durban Nights XX
Durban Nights XX was created in two steps. First, the Brothers Grimm pollinated a special female of Durban-Thai Highflyer (SSSC) with pollen from a female Jack Herer by Sensi Seeds that had been hormonally induced to produce pollen. The breeder describes the offspring of this cross, DTJH for short, as very stocky, vigorous and exceptionally aromatic. In the second step, the in-house favourite female of Cinderella 99 was reversed with colloidal silver and used to pollinate a DTJH female – according to the manufacturer, this produces 100% female seeds. Cinderella 99 contributes strong resin production and an ideal flower structure and brings additional potency and yield. The strain is photoperiod; information on the Indica/Sativa ratio or the THC content is missing. You can also find two of the lines individually: Cinderella 99 by Brothers Grimm and Jack Herer by Sensi Seeds.
Who Is Durban Nights XX For?
Durban Nights XX is a strain for fans of classic genetics and vigorous plants. It suits:
- Lovers of old lines such as Durban-Thai, Jack Herer and Cinderella 99
- Growers with enough headroom for tall, vigorous plants
- Aroma fans looking for tropical notes and incense
- Consumers who prefer an uplifting, cerebral high
- Growers who would rather let plants grow naturally than train them elaborately
It is less suitable for very low grow rooms and for anyone looking for a heavy, sedating effect. You can find more strains for the grow room under feminised indoor seeds.
Growing Durban Nights XX: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Brothers Grimm gives the flowering time as 59 to 70 days, i.e. around eight and a half to ten weeks after the switch to 12/12. The breeder describes tall, vigorous plants with plenty of resin, a large main cola and heavy but strong side branches. Its recommendation: let Durban Nights XX grow in the natural shape of an evergreen tree with a single dominant top, and tie the plant to a stake from the trunk upwards along the main cola. According to the manufacturer, the side branches do not usually need any further support. It describes the yield as high, without a figure in g/m²; a final height in centimetres is also missing. So allow enough headroom and do not switch to flowering too late. With the very strong smell, a carbon filter is advisable. You can read more about light and climate in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
For outdoor growing, the breeder does not give any data of its own: harvest date, height and yield per plant remain open. Because of the flowering time of up to 70 days and the tall growth, you need a sunny, sheltered spot and a sturdy stake for the heavy main cola, which comes under particular strain in wind and rain. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Durban Nights XX
Brothers Grimm promises an intensely tropical scent with a note of incense and attributes it to the terpenes of the Durban-Thai and Jack Herer parents. According to the breeder, the flowers sparkle and give off a very loud aroma as soon as the jar is opened, which carries through into the flavour when smoked. The manufacturer does not name individual terpenes or a lab terpene profile. It describes the effect as a strong, uplifting, cerebral high with an adrenaline rush that is said to be noticeable from the very first puff; the euphoria is said to take hold of body and mind. At the same time it calls the high meditative – it is said to bring inner peace instead of paranoia. Brothers Grimm does not state a THC value. How intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
Note: Effect information is based on manufacturer data and user experience and does not constitute medical advice.
