Genetics & Origin of Fenojoy FJ-1
Fenojoy is a strain bred by Fenocan: a selected phenotype of AC/DC was crossed with the in-house hybrid strain Fenomed. The outcome was a Sativa-dominant strain with 70% Sativa and 30% Indica whose cannabinoid profile is clearly geared towards CBD. The breeder gives 10 to 13% CBD, plus a total THC content of 0.4 to 0.55% (delta-9-THC below 0.2%), a CBD to THC ratio of 20:1 and less than 1% CBG. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod; flowering therefore only sets in after the light cycle is switched. Fenocan describes the growth as vigorous and pine-tree-shaped, with elongated, tapering flowers. Another CBD strain in our range is CBD Therapy by the CBD-Crew.
Who Is Fenojoy FJ-1 For?
Fenojoy FJ-1 is a CBD strain for indoors, open ground and the greenhouse. It suits:
- Growers specifically looking for a strain with 10 to 13% CBD
- Anyone who wants a very low THC content
- Indoor gardeners who plan for 7 to 8 weeks of flowering
- Outdoor and greenhouse gardeners with a harvest in mid-October
- Lovers of woody pine aromas
It is less suitable for anyone who expects a THC-rich strain with a powerful high, and for growers who are mainly after quantity – Fenocan rates the yield as medium. Sativa-leaning strains with more THC are listed under Sativa strains.
Growing Fenojoy FJ-1: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, Fenojoy flowers for 7 to 8 weeks according to Fenocan; as a photoperiod strain it only starts to do so after the switch to 12/12. The plants grow vigorously and in the shape of a pine tree and form long, dense, white and resinous flowers. The breeder rates the nutrient requirement as medium and recommends an EC value of 1.2 to 1.6 at a pH value of 5.8 to 6.5. Fenocan describes the yield overall as medium; the breeder gives no figure in g/m² or for the height. You can read more about nutrient solution and pH value in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Fenocan lists the strain for open ground and the greenhouse just as it does for indoors. Outside, according to the breeder, it is ready for harvest in mid-October and produces 160 to 320 g per plant. A height figure is missing. As the flowers grow long and dense, an airy, sunny spot or a greenhouse is an advantage in a damp autumn. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Fenojoy FJ-1
Fenocan describes the terpene profile of Fenojoy as woody and piney; the breeder does not name individual terpenes or lab values for it. It is more precise about the cannabinoid profile: 10 to 13% CBD is set against a total THC content of 0.4 to 0.55%, the delta-9-THC share is below 0.2%, CBG below 1%. The breeder gives the ratio of CBD to THC as 20:1. Fenocan does not provide a description of the effect, and we do not add one of our own. All that is certain is that the THC content is very low and CBD determines the profile. How you experience the strain in an individual case depends on dose and personal tolerance.
