Genetics & Origin of Gelato 44 (Tyson 2.0)
Gelato 44 comes from the collaboration between Royal Queen Seeds and Tyson 2.0, which is intended to make Mike Tyson's favourite strains available as seeds. According to the manufacturer, the strain was developed by the breeders at Tyson 2.0 from a cross of Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. The result is an Indica-dominant hybrid with 75% Indica and 25% Sativa, a THC content of 22% and a low CBD content. Royal Queen Seeds counts it among the strongest and most aromatic strains in the collection. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod – so flowering only sets in when the light cycle is switched to 12/12. Also under the Tyson 2.0 name, we stock Dynamite Diesel (Tyson 2.0) and Punch Pie (Tyson 2.0).
Who Is Gelato 44 (Tyson 2.0) For?
Gelato 44 combines a short flowering time with a powerful effect. It suits:
- Growers who want to harvest after 8 to 9 weeks of flowering
- Indoor gardeners with limited height – the plants stay at 80 to 120 cm
- Outdoor gardeners in regions with short summers
- Lovers of cookie, mint and citrus aromas
- Consumers looking for physical relaxation with a clear head
It is less suitable if you are looking for a mild strain with a low THC content. You can find other potent strains under feminised seeds with high THC content.
Growing Gelato 44 (Tyson 2.0): Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Royal Queen Seeds recommends watering and feeding Gelato 44 regularly. The description text speaks of about eight weeks of flowering, while the data sheet states 8 to 9 weeks – so plan for this range from the switch to 12/12. Indoors, the plants grow 80 to 120 cm tall and, according to the manufacturer, produce 400 to 450 g/m². This means the strain also fits into tents with limited height. Good air movement and a carbon filter make sense during flowering, especially as the manufacturer describes the strain as very aromatic. You will find the basics on climate, watering and feeding in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, Gelato 44 reaches 140 to 180 cm according to the data sheet. Harvest falls in the period from 15 to the end of September, and the manufacturer states 550 to 600 g per plant. Royal Queen Seeds gives “short summers” as the climate zone – so the early ripening also suits locations where autumn begins early. A sunny, sheltered spot nevertheless remains the best prerequisite. You can find more strains for outdoors under feminised outdoor seeds. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Gelato 44 (Tyson 2.0)
In the data sheet, Royal Queen Seeds lists five flavours: cookie, earthy, fruity, mint and citrusy. The manufacturer does not state a lab terpene profile; it speaks only in general terms of terpenes which, together with the THC content of 22%, contribute to the physical effect. It describes this effect as distinctly body-focused: the strain first takes hold in the body and loosens the muscles, but is not supposed to knock you out. Instead it cites clarity, creativity and bursts of euphoria; the data sheet lists the keywords euphoric, physically relaxing, creative and long-lasting. The CBD content is low. Royal Queen Seeds counts Gelato 44 among the most aromatic strains in the Tyson 2.0 collection. How strongly you feel the effect depends on dose and personal tolerance.
