Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Grape Skunk Dog
Grape Skunk Dog is a joint project by Dragons Flame Genetics (DFG) and Matchmaker Seeds. On one side of the cross is Grape Pie in the Archive cut, a line bred by Cannarado; on the other is a Triangle Skunk from Matchmaker Seeds' breeding work, which DFG selected. The breeder describes the release as a small run: it shared the stock with Matchmaker, and enough seed is meant to be left over for a later F2 line. Dragons Flame Genetics gives no information on the ratio of Indica to Sativa or on the THC and CBD content. The seeds are regular and photoperiod: male and female plants grow, and flowering only begins after the light cycle is switched. You can find more strains from the house of the Grape Pie breeders at Cannarado Genetics; from DFG itself there is also Triangle Skunk Shine Regular.
Who Is Grape Skunk Dog For?
Grape Skunk Dog is a strain for lovers of aroma and resin, less so for yield hunters. It suits:
- Fans of the combination of fruit and gas, i.e. grape with a fuel note
- Selectors who want to choose a mother plant of their own from regular seeds
- Hobby breeders who would like to carry on working with male plants
- Growers who value dense, uniformly sized and easy-to-trim buds
- Collectors of American genetics from a small run
If you are mainly after quantity, you should know that the breeder expressly does not promise maximum yields. You can find more American lines under US Genetics.
Growing Grape Skunk Dog: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Dragons Flame Genetics gives the flowering time as 8 to 10 weeks, depending on the desired ripeness: 8 weeks are enough for a speedy harvest, while for your own stash the breeder advises leaving the plants standing for longer. After the switch to 12/12 they stretch to roughly double their size – you should factor that into your room height. It does not state a final height in centimetres or a yield in g/m²; in its own words, the strain is not among the highest-yielding, but it forms very dense, uniformly sized buds that are easy to trim. Because the seeds are regular, it is best to germinate more seeds than the number of plants you want to keep and remove the males in pre-flowering, unless pollination is wanted. You will find the basics in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
For open ground the breeder gives no information of its own, neither on height nor on yield per plant nor on the harvest date. In the shop, harvest is classified for October, which is to be understood only as an approximation. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Grape Skunk Dog
When it comes to aroma, the breeder is unambiguous: grape and gas, i.e. a fuel-like sharpness, shape the smell and flavour. As further keywords it names “Sour” and “Skunk”, a sour and a skunky note. It lists these terms under the heading of terpene profile; it does not name individual terpenes or lab values. It describes the flowers as very resinous, and many phenotypes show colourful buds when broken open. Dragons Flame Genetics gives no information on the effect or the THC content – so we deliberately do not add any estimates. With regular seeds, individual plants differ anyway. How the effect turns out in each case depends on phenotype, harvest time, dose and individual tolerance.
Note: Effect information is based on manufacturer data and user experience and does not constitute medical advice.
