Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Green Gelato
Green Gelato is the result of Californian breeding work: the genetics come from a project in the Bay Area and combine Sunset Sherbet with Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. Royal Queen Seeds describes this as the union of the Cookies family with the fruity character of the Sherbet line. The outcome is a slightly Indica-dominant hybrid with 55% Indica and 45% Sativa. The manufacturer gives the THC content as around 27%, and elsewhere as up to 27%; the CBD content is low. The high flower density and a terpene profile that RQS describes as creamy-sweet and complex are striking. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod, so flowering only begins after the light cycle is switched. You will find an autoflowering variant of the same name in our range in the form of Auto Green Gelato.
Who Is Green Gelato For?
Green Gelato is a very potent dessert strain that we rate for experienced growers. It suits:
- Experienced growers who work with SCROG or LST
- Growers who have climate and air circulation under control with dense flowers
- Lovers of sweet, biscuity and creamy aromas
- Outdoor gardeners in warm locations
- Experienced consumers looking for a very potent strain
It is less suitable for beginners: the very high THC content and the very high yield with heavy, dense flowers call for experience. You can find larger packs of this and other strains under Bulk Seeds.
Growing Green Gelato: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, Green Gelato grows 80 to 120 cm tall and flowers for 8 to 10 weeks. Royal Queen Seeds states a yield of 500 to 700 g/m². Because of the high flower density, the manufacturer recommends SCROG or LST; this way the light falls evenly on all shoots. At low temperatures, the flowers can develop purple nuances. Dense flowers need good air movement and controlled humidity in the final weeks, and the intense aroma makes a carbon filter sensible. You will find the basics on training and climate in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, Green Gelato reaches 150 to 200 cm and is ready for harvest in early October. The manufacturer states up to 800 g per plant. The strain loves a warm climate and, according to Royal Queen Seeds, needs good air circulation – an airy, sunny spot and sufficient distance between the plants suit it well. In cool, damp regions, a greenhouse is the safer choice. You can find more strains for outdoors under outdoor seeds. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Green Gelato
Royal Queen Seeds describes the scent of Green Gelato as sweet, earthy and minty with a hint of citrus. Biscuity, fruity and creamy notes dominate the flavour; according to the manufacturer, the smoke is extremely dense and fruity-sweet. The breeder speaks of a complex, creamy-sweet terpene profile but does not list individual terpenes. It sums up the effect as creative, euphoric and physically relaxing: the head stays clear and stimulated while the body loosens up. Because of the high potency, RQS aims the strain at experienced users. With around 27% THC and a low CBD content, Green Gelato is very strong; how intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance. Start with a small amount.
