In an industry often driven by short-lived trends and pure “bag appeal,” Archive Seedbank stands for substance. Founded by Fletcher Watson, better known under his alias ThaDocta, Archive has become synonymous with some of the most prestigious genetics on the US West Coast. The name says it all: the mission is to archive cannabis history and preserve it for future generations.

1. The Beginnings – A Project Born in the Underground

Long before legalization became reality in the United States, Fletcher Watson was deeply embedded in the online cannabis community. Forums such as ICmag and Overgrow were hubs where growers exchanged rare cuts and elite genetics.

At that time, one major issue existed: many legendary strains were available only as clone-only cuts. Without access to exclusive circles, these genetics were unattainable.

ThaDocta began systematically collecting these elite clones. His goal was to preserve them in stable seed form, without sacrificing potency, structure, or terpene character.

2. The Foundation – Face Off OG

No discussion about Archive is complete without mentioning the legendary Face Off OG. In the late 1990s, Fletcher received an exceptional batch of OG Kush flowers. Hidden within were a few accidental seeds.

One of those seeds produced a plant so powerful that it earned the name “Face Off” – a reference to the action movie, as its effect could metaphorically “take your face off.”

This line became the genetic backbone of Archive. Instead of chasing trends, Fletcher used Face Off OG as a male in countless crosses, transmitting stability, extreme potency, and the unmistakable “gassy” OG aroma into new hybrids.

3. The Philosophy – Transparency & Respect

What separates Archive from many marketing-driven seedbanks is its commitment to transparency. ThaDocta carefully documents the origin of every clone used. When strains like Sour Diesel or Girl Scout Cookies are involved, their lineage is clearly acknowledged.

This respect for cannabis heritage earned Archive recognition from both old-school breeders and the new generation. The focus has always been on authentic potency and terpene depth – not just visual appeal.

4. The Rise in Portland

With legalization in Oregon, Archive solidified its reputation as a genetic institution. In Portland, Archive Portland was established – a combination of dispensary and genetic center.

Growers can access not only seeds, but also verified elite clones. Strains such as Dosidos, RudeBoi OG, and Planet Purple brought Archive international attention. Dosidos (OGKB x Face Off OG) in particular became a modern classic.

Conclusion

Archive Seedbank is more than just a seed company. Fletcher Watson demonstrated that preserving legendary genetics is the foundation for future innovation.

Opening a pack of Archive seeds means holding a piece of cannabis history – selected with the precision of an archivist and the passion of a dedicated grower.
