Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Hindu Kush
The Hindu Kush is the western extension of the Himalayas; it covers half of Afghanistan and reaches as far as the borders with Pakistan and India. Sensi Seeds describes the region as an old trade route along which the cannabis traditions of the surrounding cultures mingled, and as the origin of the true Indica or Afghanica genotypes. The Hindu Kush seed line comes from this area. According to the breeder, it was selected for quality and stability over countless generations but always crossed within its own gene pool – a pure, non-hybridised strain with 100% Indica. The seedlings turn out very uniform. As regular seed, Hindu Kush produces male and female plants; the strain is photoperiod. Who Is Hindu Kush For?
Hindu Kush is a piece of original Indica genetics from the Sensi Seeds catalogue. It suits:
- Collectors of pure, non-hybridised lines
- Breeders looking for a stable Indica as a crossing partner
- Indoor growers who want to raise uniform plants directly from seed
- Growers who appreciate a short flowering time of 45 to 50 days
- Consumers who prefer a calm, body-focused effect
It is less suitable if you expect maximum yields – the manufacturer states a medium yield – or want only female plants. You can find more strains without any Sativa share under 100% Indica.
Growing Hindu Kush: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, Hindu Kush flowers for just 45 to 50 days. Sensi Seeds describes the plants as dark green, compact and sturdy, with the classic broad-fingered leaves of an Indica; flowering is said to be vigorous and reliable and to bring fast harvests of fat Afghani buds. Because the seedlings grow very uniformly, the breeder calls the strain excellent for uniform indoor harvests directly from seed. It gives the yield as medium; figures for g/m² and height are missing. As the seeds are regular, you germinate more seeds than the number of plants you want to keep and remove male plants in pre-flowering unless you want to breed. You will find the basics on this in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
For outdoors, Sensi Seeds names a sunny, Mediterranean climate. According to the breeder, Hindu Kush also thrives splendidly outdoors in warmer climate zones; as a guide, it names roughly the 42nd parallel north. The manufacturer does not give a harvest date or a yield per plant. In cooler locations, a greenhouse is the safer choice. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Hindu Kush
According to Sensi Seeds, Hindu Kush gives off a fine smell of sandalwood, laced with the sweet aroma of fresh charas. The manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. The breeder describes the potency as astonishingly high for a strain that is not a hybrid; it does not give a THC value in per cent. It describes the effect as a cosy, positive body feeling of the kind known from the famous high-altitude Indicas. Added to this is a calm, contemplative mood in the head – expressly in contrast to the crushing cerebral stone of later Indica, Afghanica and Skunk hybrids. This makes the strain more suited to quiet hours than to an active day. How intense the effect is depends on phenotype, dose and individual tolerance.
