Genetics & Origin of Lemon Z
Lemon Z is the revised version of a strain that Dutch Passion has been working with for some time: the predecessor version took first prize as best Sativa and the overall win at the HighLife Cup 2018. For today's Lemon Z, the breeder additionally crossed the cross of Las Vegas Lemon Skunk and Original Z (Zkittlez) with Lemon Tree. By its account, this made the line more stable and somewhat faster in flowering, without changing the lemon-dominated terpene profile. Dutch Passion classifies Lemon Z as predominantly Sativa-dominant with a clear Indica share; the manufacturer does not state percentages. The THC content averages about 20% and, according to the breeder, can also turn out higher; it does not give a CBD value. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod. You will find a Lemon Tree from a different breeding programme in our range with Lemon Tree by Barney's Farm.
Who Is Lemon Z For?
Lemon Z combines a pronounced citrus profile with a manageable flowering time. It suits:
- Lovers of sweet-and-sour lemon and lime aromas
- Growers looking for a Sativa-dominant hybrid with 8 to 9 weeks of flowering
- Indoor gardeners with some headroom for stretched plants
- Outdoor gardeners in locations with a mild, dry October
- Consumers who appreciate a strong, long-lasting effect at around 20% THC
If you have to harvest outdoors as early as September, you are better served by an earlier-ripening strain. You can find more strains for the garden under feminised outdoor seeds.
Growing Lemon Z: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Under artificial light, Dutch Passion reckons with 8 to 9 weeks of flowering; on average it is around 63 to 65 days after the switch to 12/12. The plants form a rather stretched, open Sativa structure and reach an average height – the manufacturer does not give a figure in centimetres. As a possible yield it states about 500 to 550 g/m². The flowers stay comparatively compact and are thickly coated in resin. Because of the sharp citrus smell, a carbon filter makes sense, and a net helps to spread the stretched shoots evenly under the lamp. The basics on climate and training are in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to the manufacturer, Lemon Z is ready for harvest between early and late October in a temperate climate in the northern hemisphere. In open ground or in a very large pot, Dutch Passion considers around 500 to 750 g possible. The breeder does not state how tall the plants grow outside. Because the harvest can drag on into late October, a sunny, airy spot where the flowers dry off quickly after rain is worthwhile. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Terpenes of Lemon Z
Dutch Passion describes the scent as fresh and sweet-and-sour: lemon and lime are in the foreground, accompanied by pine notes; the flavour turns out fresh and tart. The breeder names pinene, myrcene and limonene as the three dominant terpenes. The manufacturer describes the effect as strong and long-lasting, and at the same time both stimulating and relaxing – so Lemon Z is neither purely activating nor purely calming. According to the manufacturer, the THC content averages about 20% and can be higher in many cases; so approach it slowly, especially if you rarely consume Sativa-dominant strains. How intense the effect is in an individual case depends on dose and personal tolerance.
