Malawi Seeds – 100% Sativa Landrace by Ace Seeds
What is Malawi? Malawi by Ace Seeds is a feminised, photoperiod landrace Sativa with a 100% Sativa share, selected from Old Killer Malawi × third-generation New Malawi Killer. Indoors it flowers for 10 to 13 weeks, outdoors it only ripens in late October to early November; the manufacturer calls the yield high and gives the THC content as 20 to 25%. Aromas of oil, wood and lemon and an extremely strong, psychedelic effect lasting over four hours are typical. Because of the long flowering time and the late harvest outdoors, it is a strain for experienced growers – in the 100% Sativa category. Available in a pack of 5 seeds.

Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Malawi
Malawi is a pure landrace from the African country of the same name, which Ace Seeds has bred and selected over years. The breeder lists it as P4 and gives the lineage as Old Killer Malawi × third-generation New Malawi Killer. It is 100% Sativa and, according to the manufacturer, contains 20 to 25% THC and less than 1% CBD. Ace Seeds describes the flowers as dense and resinous with huge trichomes; in size and cannabinoid concentration, it says, Malawi can keep up with the strongest Sativa/Indica hybrids. Because of the large amount of resin, the breeder recommends it for concentrates and hashish as well as a breeding partner for resinous, high-yielding hybrids. This item is the feminised version; if you would like to select or make your own crosses, you will also find Malawi Regular in our range.
Who Is Malawi For?
Malawi is a strain for experienced growers who can give a pure Sativa the time it needs. It suits:
- Experienced growers who plan for 10 to 13 weeks of flowering
- Sativa lovers and collectors of pure landraces
- SCROG growers who want to make use of strong side branching
- Hash and concentrate makers looking for very resinous flowers
- Experienced consumers who are familiar with an intense, long-lasting effect
For beginners – in growing as in consumption – it is less suitable, as it is for anyone who wants to harvest quickly. You can find more original lines under Classics and Landraces.
Growing Malawi: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
The flowering time of Malawi is 10 to 13 weeks indoors, and Ace Seeds calls the yield high, without putting a figure on it in g/m². The plants grow vigorously, with medium internodal spacing and strong branching. For small, columnar plants or a Sea of Green, the breeder advises switching to 12/12 just a few days after rooting. The strain is said to be particularly suitable for SCROG, horizontal nets and pruned plants. For feeding, it recommends medium PK levels throughout the entire cycle and slightly less nitrogen. It rates the resistance to botrytis and heat as high, and to spider mites and powdery mildew as average. More on nets and training can be found in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to the manufacturer, Malawi only ripens in late October to early November. It thrives best in tropical and subtropical climates; according to Ace Seeds, it can be grown successfully up to the 43rd parallel. In Central Europe, which lies north of that, growing indoors or under glass is therefore generally the only option left. The breeder rates the cold resistance as average to high. It does not state a yield per plant. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Malawi
Ace Seeds describes strong, concentrated aromas of oil, wood and lemon. Individual phenotypes additionally bring notes of sweet carrot or ripe mandarin. The manufacturer does not state a lab terpene profile. The effect is what the breeder highlights this landrace for: it calls it psychedelic, intense and cerebral, mentally stimulating and profound, with a duration of over four hours. Ace Seeds expressly recommends Malawi only to experienced users and warns against mixing it with alcohol or operating machinery under its influence. With 20 to 25% THC and less than 1% CBD, it is very potent. Start with a very small amount and wait: how intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
