Genetics & Origin of Master Kush
According to Barney's Farm, Master Kush is one of the most significant classic Kush strains. As its genetics, the breeder names the Hindu Kush Mountain Range: original, stabilised landrace genetics from the Hindu Kush with 100% Indica and up to 24% THC. It does not give a CBD value. Reliability, resilience, very high resin production and an extremely stable regular line are highlighted. The seeds are regular and photoperiod – they produce male and female plants, and flowering only begins after the switch to 12/12. Barney's Farm therefore sees the strain above all for breeding projects, phenotype selections and the preservation of classic Kush genetics. Hindu Kush Regular from the same breeder bears the name of the region of origin; a Master Kush from another house is Master Kush by Nirvana.
Who Is Master Kush For?
Master Kush is a pure Indica for growers with experience who work with regular seeds. It suits:
- Experienced growers who can reliably tell male and female plants apart
- Breeders looking for a stable Kush line for their own crosses
- Selectors in search of a resinous mother plant
- Hash and extract lovers who want to process a lot of resin
- Consumers who appreciate a deeply relaxing Indica effect in the evening
According to our classification, it is less suitable for a first grow, and likewise for anyone looking for a stimulating high for the daytime. You can find more pure Indicas under 100% Indica.
Growing Master Kush: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, according to Barney's Farm, Master Kush flowers for 55 to 65 days, i.e. around eight to nine weeks, and reaches 80 to 120 cm. The breeder states a yield of 450 to 550 g/m². The plants grow compact and bushy, with short internodes and strong side branching, and form dense, heavy, very resinous flowers; according to the manufacturer, they respond superbly to classic growing methods. With regular seeds, determining the sex in pre-flowering is part of the job: male plants are removed or deliberately separated for breeding. Such dense flowers need good air movement and controlled humidity in the final weeks. You will find the basics on climate and plant care in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, the plants grow 150 to 200 cm tall, and Barney's Farm states up to 750 g per plant. Master Kush prefers warm, sunny and dry locations but, according to the manufacturer, also proves extremely robust in temperate climate zones. The breeder does not state a harvest date; so judge ripeness by the trichomes. You should support heavy side shoots in good time. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Master Kush
Barney's Farm calls the aroma profile authentic and intense: classic Kush with earthy notes, sweet nuances, citrus zest, incense and spicy charas aromas – a traditional Kush profile with exotic spice and pleasant sweetness. The breeder does not state individual terpenes or a lab profile. It describes the effect as a classic Indica effect: deeply relaxing, calming, euphoric, with a feeling of happiness and physically balancing. According to the manufacturer, the strain is intended for switching off after a long day and for relaxed evening hours. Because of the very high resin production, it also recommends it for hashish and extracts. With up to 24% THC, Master Kush is a potent strain, and with regular seeds individual plants can turn out differently. How intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
