Maui Mac Dragon Regular

Genetics & Origin of Maui Mac Dragon

Maui Mac Dragon belongs to the first wave of joint releases from Dragons Flame Genetics and Matchmaker Genetics. According to Dragons Flame, the two breeders became friends on Big Island, Hawaii, and had long planned a joint project; by that account, Matchmaker Genetics has specialised in mould- and mildew-resistant, adaptable and terpene-rich lines. The mother is a cross of Cherry Pie (Bay Area Cut) and Mac Dragon #7 from Dragons Flame, the father a Triangle Skunk bx1 that Matchmaker Genetics bred and Dragons Flame selected. The strain is photoperiod and regular: the seeds produce male and female plants, which makes it interesting for selection and your own breeding projects. The breeder does not state an Indica/Sativa ratio or THC and CBD values. Triangle Skunk Shine Regular also comes from the house of Dragons Flame.

Who Is Maui Mac Dragon For?

Maui Mac Dragon is designed for growing outdoors and brings regular genetics for selectors. It suits:

• Outdoor gardeners who value resilient genetics
• Selectors who want to choose a mother plant from regular seeds
• Hobby breeders who use male plants for their own crosses
• Lovers of skunk, gas and cherry aromas
• Collectors of US genetics from breeder collaborations

If you are looking for only female plants without any selection work or for a harvest after eight weeks of flowering, you are better served by a feminised, faster-flowering strain. You can find more strains from American breeders under US Genetics.

Growing Maui Mac Dragon: Indoor & Outdoor

Indoor Growing

Indoors, Maui Mac Dragon flowers for 9 to 11 weeks according to the breeder; exactly how long depends on the phenotype and the desired degree of ripeness. Flowering only begins after the switch to 12/12. For indoor growing, Dragons Flame Genetics speaks of smoke quality at the highest level but states neither height nor yield. Because these are regular seeds, it is best to germinate more seeds than the number of plants you want to keep and determine the sex in pre-flowering; male plants are removed unless pollination is wanted. Because of the strong terpenes, a carbon filter makes sense. You will find the basics in the Growpedia.

Outdoor Growing

Outdoors is where the strain's real strength lies: the breeder highlights the above-average resistance and describes a dense but knobbly flower structure that lets air through and thus prevents rot. In the Pacific Northwest of the USA, according to the breeder, most plants were already finished in the first week of October. It gives no information on plant height or yield per plant. A sunny, airy spot supports ripening. You can find more regular strains for outdoors under regular outdoor seeds. Only grow where it is legal to do so.

Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Maui Mac Dragon

Dragons Flame Genetics describes the smell and flavour as skunky, funky and gassy with a distinct cherry note. The breeder's testers reported very high potency and decidedly strong terpenes; in the breeder's words, many of them kept plants from the test run. The breeder does not name individual terpenes or a lab terpene profile. There is also no THC value and no description of the direction of the effect – more stimulating or more relaxing; we deliberately do not add any estimates on this. With regular seeds from a multiple cross, you must also expect differences between the plants. So assume a strong strain and approach it carefully: how intense the effect is depends on phenotype, dose and individual tolerance.

Note: Effect information is based on manufacturer data and user experience and does not constitute medical advice.
