Genetics & Origin of MK-Ultra
MK-Ultra combines the legendary G-13 with an OG Kush from Los Angeles. T.H. Seeds lists it as a predominantly Indica strain; the breeder does not state an exact ratio or a THC value. The strain description speaks of US elite genetics with a cup history: 1st place at the High Times Cannabis Cup 2003, 2nd place in 2004, plus awards at the High Times Denver Cup 2014 and at the Social Clubs Cannabis Cup 2014 and 2015. The strain is photoperiod and available here as regular seed, which produces male and female plants. This makes MK-Ultra interesting for anyone who wants to select a mother plant of their own or carry on breeding with the line. You can find an OG Kush as a strain in its own right with, for example, OG Kush by White Label Seed Co.; Mont Blanc also comes from T.H. Seeds.
Who Is MK-Ultra For?
MK-Ultra is an award-winning classic for the grow room. It suits:
- Indica lovers looking for a heavy, body-focused effect
- Indoor growers with small rooms or a Sea of Green setup
- Collectors of award-winning genetics
- Selectors and hobby breeders who work with regular seeds
- Friends of classic pine and earth aromas
It is less suitable for outdoor gardeners, because the breeder sees the compact strain primarily in indoor growing. If you only want female plants, choose feminised seeds. You can find more regular strains under regular seeds.
Growing MK-Ultra: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, according to T.H. Seeds, MK-Ultra grows 100 to 120 cm tall and flowers for 56 to 63 days, i.e. eight to nine weeks. As the yield, the breeder states around 350 g/m². According to the breeder, the compact growth makes it ideal for the Sea of Green and for small rooms. As the seeds are regular, it is best to germinate more seeds than the number of plants you want to keep, determine the sex in pre-flowering and remove male plants unless pollination is wanted. For a Sea of Green with uniform plants, taking cuttings from a selected mother plant is a good option. The intense pine smell is a case for a carbon filter. You can find out more in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
For growing outdoors, T.H. Seeds gives no information on height, harvest time or yield per plant. The strain description merely notes that, owing to its compact structure, MK-Ultra is primarily suited to indoor growing. If you nevertheless want to try it outdoors or in a greenhouse, you should choose a sunny, sheltered spot and protect the flowers from persistent wet in autumn. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of MK-Ultra
According to the strain description, the scent of MK-Ultra is intensely piney with earthy undertones; the flavour is described as resinous, spicy and long-lasting. The manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. The effect is considered hypnotic, strongly physical and mentally relaxing – the breeder speaks of a grounding, almost trance-like high and a powerful Indica effect. It is recommended for deep relaxation, creative sessions and quiet evenings. T.H. Seeds does not state a THC value; if you have little tolerance, you should therefore start with a small amount. With regular seeds, individual plants can also differ in aroma and strength. How intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
