Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Mountaintop Mint
Mountaintop Mint was bred by Humboldt Seed Company from The Bling and Mac Mints. According to the breeder, the then still new genetics performed so well in 2019 that in 2020 they became a fully fledged strain in the catalogue. It is a balanced hybrid with 50% Indica and 50% Sativa, and according to the manufacturer the average THC content is 26 to 30%. It does not state a CBD value. While Humboldt Seed Company otherwise emphasises the uniformity of its own seeds, the breeder expressly labels this strain as fairly variable – so differences between individual plants are to be expected. The combination of mint terpenes and dense trichome coverage reminded the breeder of snow-covered Swiss Alps. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod. From the same house, you will find Blueberry Pancakes in our range, for example.
Who Is Mountaintop Mint For?
Mountaintop Mint is a very THC-rich hybrid with an unusual mint profile. It suits:
- Lovers of mint, menthol and skunk aromas
- Selectors who pick their favourite from variable plants
- Growers who can plan for 70 days of flowering
- Outdoor gardeners in locations with a dry, sunny October
- Consumers with a high tolerance looking for a very heavy effect
It is less suitable if you are looking for completely uniform plants or a light strain for the daytime. You can find more American lines under US Genetics.
Growing Mountaintop Mint: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Humboldt Seed Company gives the flowering time as 70 days, i.e. ten weeks, and itself speaks of a long flowering period that is rewarded with productive plants. The growth is given as medium-sized; the breeder does not state values in centimetres or a yield in g/m². Because it describes the strain as fairly variable, it is worth germinating several seeds and observing the plants individually. The flowers, densely covered in trichomes, benefit from good air movement in the final weeks, and a carbon filter makes sense for the strong aroma. You will find the basics on climate and training in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
For open ground, Humboldt Seed Company states a harvest window from 5 to 20 October. Ripening can thus extend into the second half of October; the plants therefore need a sunny spot that stays dry for a long time in autumn. The breeder does not put a figure on height and yield per plant; it merely describes the strain as productive. You can find more outdoor strains under feminised outdoor seeds. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Mountaintop Mint
The name says it all: Humboldt Seed Company describes the aroma as mint sweets and menthol, more precisely as spearmint with a skunky finish, and speaks of mint terpenes of a kind you would hardly expect in cannabis. It reminded the breeder of herbal sweet adverts and cool mint freshness. It leaves open which terpenes are behind this – the manufacturer does not state a lab terpene profile. It sums up the effect drastically: a numbing knockout effect. This fits the average THC content of 26 to 30% that Humboldt Seed Company gives. Mountaintop Mint is thus a very strong strain for which even small amounts can be enough; plan it more for the evening. How intense the effect is in an individual case depends on dose and individual tolerance.
