Genetics & Origin of Nepal Mist
Nepal Mist is one of the earliest crosses by Ace Seeds: at the end of the 1990s, the breeder combined a Nepalese Sativa (Nepalese Kathmandu) with an old Kali Mist. For a long time the line was not for sale; only for the 15th anniversary was it reproduced and released as a limited regular standard edition. According to Ace Seeds, the Nepalese Sativa, with its strawberry and incense aromas and its clean effect, deepened the house's interest in landraces. The Kali Mist increases yield and potency and intensifies the incense notes. The ratio is 80% Sativa to 20% Indica; Ace Seeds gives 12% THC as well as 0.5% each of CBD and CBG. Regular seeds grow into male and female plants, which makes the line interesting for selection and breeding. We stock a Kali Mist as regular seed from Serious Seeds.
Who Is Nepal Mist For?
Nepal Mist is a connoisseur's strain with a long flowering time and a gentle character. It suits:
- Collectors of old Sativa lines and limited Ace editions
- Hobby breeders who work with male and female plants
- SCROG growers with sufficient space and patience
- Outdoor gardeners up to the 45th degree of latitude, even in rainy locations
- Consumers who appreciate a clear, moderately potent Sativa
It is less suitable for low grow rooms and for anyone who wants to harvest quickly or achieve very high THC values. You can find more regular lines with a landrace background under Classics and Landraces.
Growing Nepal Mist: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
In the grow room, Nepal Mist needs 10 to 12 weeks of flowering and plenty of space: Ace Seeds describes large, flexible plants with long internodes and lanky branching. The breeder advises switching to flowering as early as 15 days after sowing, or starting with cuttings that have been rooted for at least seven days. SCROG and horizontal training on a net are said to be particularly suitable, as the side branches bear well and the plant responds vigorously to pruning. Feeding is restrained – low to moderate amounts during growth, moderate phosphorus and potassium towards the middle of flowering. The manufacturer gives the yield only as medium to high. You remove male plants in pre-flowering if you do not want to breed. More on this in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
For open ground, Ace Seeds names latitudes 0° to 45° and a harvest from late October to early November. According to the breeder, the strain is very resistant to cold and rain and shows high resistance to botrytis; it is suitable for hot climate zones as well as for regions with rain and cold during flowering. At low temperatures the plants ripen with purple colouring and pink highlights. It does not state a yield per plant. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Nepal Mist
According to Ace Seeds, wood, incense and Nepalese hashish predominate in the scent; individual plants additionally show delicate fruit and strawberry notes. No terpene profile is available – the breeder writes that the strain has not yet been analysed. It describes the high as an elegant, friendly and clean Sativa effect of moderate potency and duration, but with a personality of its own. With 12% THC and 0.5% each of CBD and CBG, Nepal Mist is not a strain for record values but, in the breeder's words, something for lovers of Sativas from the Himalayas. As these are regular seeds, individual plants can differ in scent and expression. How the effect turns out for you depends on dose and tolerance.
