Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of New York 47
New York 47 combines two names that World of Seeds describes as world-famous: NYC Diesel and AK-47. The breeder describes the result as a balanced, Sativa-dominant cross with 60% Sativa and 40% Indica – a strong, vigorous plant with long side-shoot growth. According to the manufacturer, the zesty, fruity aroma comes from the NYC Diesel and the power from the AK-47. World of Seeds gives the THC content as 20%; the breeder does not state a CBD value. The strain description lists two placings at the Copa Popular THC Valencia 2014, in the categories indoor growing and BHO extraction. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod, so flowering only begins after the switch to 12/12. You will find an AK-47 in our range as AK-47 by Serious Seeds.
Who Is New York 47 For?
New York 47 is a vigorous hybrid with a striking aroma. It suits:
- SCROG growers who want to make use of strong vegetative growth
- Outdoor gardeners in more humid regions looking for a mould-resistant strain
- Lovers of grapefruit and citrus aromas with a chemical note
- Extract fans – one of the placings comes from the BHO extraction category
- Consumers who would like to be creative first and relax later
It is less suitable for very low grow rooms, because indoors, according to the manufacturer, it requires a certain amount of height control. You can find other strains for open ground under feminised outdoor seeds.
Growing New York 47: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, New York 47 flowers for 60 to 70 days, i.e. a good eight and a half to ten weeks. World of Seeds states 450 to 500 g/m². The strain grows strongly in the vegetative phase and forms long side shoots; the manufacturer therefore recommends it particularly for SCROG set-ups but points out that you have to keep an eye on the height. It does not give a height in centimetres. Keep the vegetative phase correspondingly short and spread the shoots out in the net early. The medium-compact buds, thickly covered in trichomes, smell intense, so an activated carbon filter makes sense. You will find the basics on SCROG and climate in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to World of Seeds, harvest falls in early October; the breeder states up to 800 g per plant. The very high mould resistance is highlighted, which makes New York 47 a good choice for more humid climate zones. Information on height in open ground is missing – because of the strong growth, you should plan for ample space and support long side shoots if necessary. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of New York 47
On the nose, New York 47 shows fruity and in part chemical-seeming notes: World of Seeds describes a citrus-grapefruit aroma that becomes even more intense when the buds are broken open. The flavour is citrus-fruity, tart and slightly fermented. The manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. According to the breeder, the effect begins euphoric and activating and is described as creative; at a higher dose or as time goes on, it shifts in a physically relaxing direction. World of Seeds recommends the strain for creative activities and relaxed afternoons. The THC content is 20%. Because the character of the effect changes with the amount, it is worth starting low – how intense it is depends on dose and personal tolerance.
