Genetics & Origin of Original Juan Herer
For Original Juan Herer, Delicious Seeds says it crossed one of the best plants on the market, the American OG Kush, with its in-house elite clone of Jack Herer. Several rounds of crossing, stabilisation and improvement led to a strain in a limited edition. The result is Sativa-leaning with 70% Sativa and 30% Indica and, according to the breeder, reaches 20% THC; it does not state a CBD value. Delicious Seeds lists two awards: third place in the outdoor category at the VI Cannabis Cup THC VLC 2016 and second place for Sativa concentrates at the High Times Cannabis Cup in Michigan 2018. As regular seed, the strain produces male and female plants – interesting for selection and breeding projects of your own. Jack Herer is also available in our range from other breeders, for example as Jack Herer Regular by Sensi Seeds.
Who Is Original Juan Herer For?
Original Juan Herer is a limited Sativa hybrid for growers with experience. It suits:
- Experienced growers who want to select using regular seeds
- Hobby breeders looking for male plants for their own crosses
- Sativa lovers for whom 55 to 65 days of flowering are convenient
- Outdoor gardeners who value high mould resistance
- Fans of classic earth and incense notes with a cerebral effect
The strain is less suitable for a first grow; if you want to grow only female plants without selection, feminised seeds are the better choice. You can find more lines of this kind under regular seeds.
Growing Original Juan Herer: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
For indoors, Delicious Seeds states a flowering time of 55 to 65 days – the breeder speaks of acceptable flowering times for this Sativa-leaning plant. It gives the yield as 600 g/m². Delicious Seeds does not state a height; Sativa-leaning plants often stretch considerably after the switch to 12/12, so plan for headroom and a net. The breeder rates the tolerance to watering as high. As these are regular seeds, you germinate more seeds than the number of plants you would like to keep, determine the sex in pre-flowering and remove male plants if pollination is not wanted. We list it as a strain for experienced growers. You will find the basics in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to Delicious Seeds, Original Juan Herer is ready for harvest in early October; the breeder states up to 800 g per plant. It gives the mould resistance as high, which helps in damp autumn weeks. It does not state an outdoor height – so give the plants plenty of space and a sunny location. You can find more strains for open ground under regular seeds for outdoor growing. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Original Juan Herer
Delicious Seeds describes the flavour of Original Juan Herer as earth and incense, and the breeder rates the intensity of the aroma as high. It does not name individual terpenes or a lab profile. Delicious Seeds describes the effect as cerebral, i.e. felt mainly in the head. With 20% THC the strain is strong. For everyone who makes extracts, the breeder states a BHO yield of 20%; the 2018 award for Sativa concentrates fits with this. With regular seeds, individual plants can differ in aroma and strength. How intense the effect is depends on phenotype, dose and personal tolerance.
Note: Effect information is based on manufacturer data and user experience and does not constitute medical advice.
