Original White Widow IBL 3 seeds

Genetics & Origin of Original White Widow IBL

According to Paradise Seeds, White Widow is regarded as an absolute classic whose popularity has remained unbroken over the years. The breeder traces its origins back to a Brazilian Sativa landrace and a resinous Indica from the mountain regions of Kerala in southern India. By its own account, Paradise Seeds received a female clone in 1996 and crossed it with a carefully selected White Widow male. The resulting line initially served as a building block for in-house hybrids; in 2012 the breeder decided to offer it as Original White Widow IBL. IBL stands for inbred line: according to the manufacturer, the genetic heritage comes exclusively from the original strain developed by Ingemar, known to many as the “father of White Widow”. The ratio is 50% Indica to 50% Sativa. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod. For comparison, you will also find White Widow by Dutch Passion in our range.

Who Is Original White Widow IBL For?

Original White Widow IBL is a uniformly growing classic with plenty of resin. It suits:

• Beginners and advanced growers looking for a resilient strain
• Growers with little space who work with SOG, SCROG or LST
• Lovers of classic old-school genetics
• Outdoor gardeners between the 50th parallel north and south
• Experienced consumers looking for a very strong effect

The strain is less suitable for consumers with a low tolerance: the breeder expressly writes that it is not meant for the faint-hearted. You can find more tried-and-tested strains under Best Feminised Seeds.

Growing Original White Widow IBL: Indoor & Outdoor

Indoor Growing

Paradise Seeds calls the strain a gift for indoor growers: it grows very uniformly, becomes bushy in the vegetative phase and stretches in flowering. After around 60 days, i.e. 8 to 9 weeks of flowering, it is ready for harvest; the breeder puts the yield at 500 g/m². According to the manufacturer, the line is very well suited to SOG, SCROG, LST and other forms of plant training and therefore also to growers with little space. Thick flower tops heavily covered in trichomes form on the many side branches. Paradise Seeds does not state an indoor height in centimetres; because of the stretch in flowering, allow for a little headroom in reserve. You can read more about the techniques mentioned in the Growpedia.

Outdoor Growing

Outdoors, according to the breeder, the plant grows two metres tall and more and yields 700 g per plant. Harvest falls in early October in the northern hemisphere. Paradise Seeds names the latitudes between 50° north and 50° south as the suitable area: the strain thrives particularly well in southern regions, but according to the manufacturer it also copes with the more temperate climate of northern Europe and Canada. Only grow where it is legal to do so.

Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Original White Widow IBL

Paradise Seeds describes the aroma as floral with a pine note; even on the plant, the resinous flower tops give off a floral scent. The manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. According to the breeder, the strain owes its name to the black widow, and its flowers are covered in thick layers of silvery-white crystals. Paradise Seeds sums up the effect as “intense, mighty strong”: although half of the genetics consist of Sativa, by its account a powerful Indica effect on body and mind prevails, which can surprise even experienced consumers. The breeder does not give a THC value in per cent, only a star rating. So start with small amounts – how strong the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
