Genetics & Origin of Pakistan Chitral Kush
According to Ace Seeds, Chitral is known worldwide for one of the best Pakistani hashishes. The line the breeder offers is a pure Kush landrace from this region in the Pakistani Hindu Kush; by its account, it has been bred by Cannabiogen since the 1990s. Genetically it is 100% Indica with 8 to 12% THC and up to 2% CBD. Two main phenotypes occur, a green one and a very colourful one; both are considered adaptable, short-flowering and resinous. A special feature: according to the manufacturer, Pakistan Chitral Kush is one of the few pure Indicas that ripen well even in rain. The seed is regular and produces male and female plants. As a crossing partner, the strain is found, for example, in Bubba Kush x PCK Regular.
Who Is Pakistan Chitral Kush For?
Pakistan Chitral Kush is a classic hash plant with a moderate THC content. It suits:
- Indica lovers looking for a pure landrace from the Hindu Kush
- Hobby breeders who want to cross in cold and fungal resistance or a shorter flowering time
- Outdoor gardeners in damp or cool locations up to the 50th parallel
- Collectors who would like to select colourful phenotypes
- Consumers who prefer a relaxing hash effect with moderate THC
If you are looking for maximum yields or very high THC values, you are better served by a different strain. You can find more pure Indicas under 100% Indica.
Growing Pakistan Chitral Kush: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, according to Ace Seeds, Pakistan Chitral Kush flowers for 8 to 9 weeks. The plants grow in a columnar shape with short internodes and broad leaves; regarding the structure, the breeder notes that it is not as robust as with Afghan Indicas. It gives the yield as average; figures in g/m² or for the height are missing. A medium nutrient supply over the entire cycle is recommended. Ace Seeds credits the strain with excellent adaptability in indoor growing and generous resin production. As it is regular seed, you determine the sex in pre-flowering; you remove male plants or use them specifically for breeding. The Growpedia offers more background.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to the manufacturer, the strain is ripe at the end of September and can be grown up to the 50th parallel. It copes with very different climate zones – warm or cold, dry or humid. Ace Seeds rates the resistance to powdery mildew, botrytis, whitefly, cold and heat as high, and to spider mites as average to high. Unlike many Afghan Indicas, it ripens well even in rain, according to the breeder. It does not state a yield per plant. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Pakistan Chitral Kush
Ace Seeds describes a bouquet with a great variety of sweet, round and penetrating aromas. For the flavour, the breeder names caramel, strawberry and blackberry bubblegum; by its account, the strain passes on forest fruit aromas and intense shades of colour to its offspring. The manufacturer does not name individual terpenes or a lab terpene profile. The effect is described briefly as pleasant and relaxing, as a typical hash effect. With 8 to 12% THC and up to 2% CBD, the THC content is moderate. As two phenotypes occur and the seed is regular, individual plants can differ in colour and aroma. How the effect turns out in an individual case depends on dose and individual tolerance.
