Genetics & Origin of Panama A5 Haze
A5 Haze is regarded as one of the most powerful Dutch Haze lines of the 1990s. It goes back to Neville and combines Northern Lights #5 with his Haze A male. Ace Seeds has crossed this legend with its own Sativas in several projects – and the breeder considers the combination with Panama, in its own assessment the most complete and refined Sativa in the house, to be the most promising. The result is an approximately 80 per cent Sativa hybrid with genetics mainly from Colombia, Panama and Afghanistan. Two clearly distinguishable phenotypes occur. The first, the more common one at 60 to 70% of plants, shows the dominant A5 Haze expression with tamed growth and realistic ripening times. The second, recessive phenotype takes strongly after the Haze A male and behaves like an untamed old Sativa. If you would like to get to know the Panama side better, you will find Super Panama Haze from the same breeder in our range.
Who Is Panama A5 Haze For?
Panama A5 Haze is a strain for Sativa lovers and selectors. It suits:
- Patient growers who can plan for long flowering times of 11 to 15 weeks
- Haze lovers in search of the aromas of the 1990s
- Selectors looking for their mother plant within two phenotypes
- Indoor gardeners with strong lighting and sufficient room
- Outdoor growers in warm coastal or Mediterranean locations with a mild autumn
It is not intended for small rooms or anyone who wants to harvest quickly. You can find more almost pure Sativas in the 100% Sativa category.
Growing Panama A5 Haze: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, Panama A5 Haze demands strong light intensity and enough space. Ace Seeds recommends sending seedlings into flowering after just 15 days or working with cuttings that have been rooted for at least 7 days. For flowering, the breeder advises a photoperiod of 11 hours of light and 13 hours of darkness to avoid excessive stretch and reflowering. The more common phenotype ripens in 11 to 13 weeks, is suited to Sea of Green thanks to its heavy main cola and, because of its productive side branches, equally to SCROG; it tolerates high nutrient levels throughout. The slower Haze phenotype needs up to 15 weeks and prefers much more moderate feeding. You will find the basics in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, the strain is suited above all to tropical and subtropical climates. According to Ace Seeds, it also succeeds in warm coastal locations with a mild autumn, similar to the Mediterranean, up to around the 43rd parallel. The breeder rates heat tolerance as high and resistance to botrytis as average to high. For Central Europe it ripens too late outdoors. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Terpenes of Panama A5 Haze
Panama A5 Haze stands for the penetrating Haze scents of the 1990s: Ace Seeds describes a bouquet of leather, charas, wood, wilting flowers and strong incense, to which the Panama line adds floral, musky and lemony notes. According to the breeder, the terpene profile is dominated by beta-myrcene, terpinolene and alpha-pinene, followed by beta-pinene and trans-ocimene; limonene and linalool occur in small proportions. The effect starts out clear and cerebral and awakens the senses. After about half an hour it shifts into a warm, psychedelic, inward-looking mood and ends relaxing and physically heavy. According to Ace Seeds, the Panama side makes the very strong, narcotic effect of A5 Haze more pleasant and brighter. The intensity depends on phenotype, dose and tolerance.

Frequently Asked Questions about Panama A5 Haze
Which phenotypes are there in Panama A5 Haze?
There are two main phenotypes. The first, around 60 to 70% of plants, is A5 Haze-dominant, very high-yielding and well adapted to indoor growing. The second resembles an old, untamed Sativa with slower flowering and a more modest indoor yield.
Which light cycle does Ace Seeds recommend for flowering?
Indoors, the breeder recommends 11 hours of light and 13 hours of darkness. This promotes flowering and limits the strong stretch in the first weeks.
Is Panama A5 Haze suitable for outdoor growing in Germany?
Not really. Ace Seeds recommends tropical or subtropical climates and warm coastal locations up to around the 43rd parallel. In Central Europe, indoor growing is the realistic option.
How long does Panama A5 Haze flower?
The more common phenotype ripens in 11 to 13 weeks, while the rarer Haze phenotype needs up to 15 weeks. The strain also demands strong lighting and a lot of space.
How do I feed the two phenotypes?
For the faster, more productive phenotype, Ace Seeds recommends high nutrient levels throughout development. The slower Haze phenotype prefers much more moderate amounts.
