Genetics & Origin of Panama Haze
As early as 2008, Ace Seeds released a limited Haze × Panama edition. Because of the great demand, the breeder relaunched the cross for its tenth anniversary with even better parent plants: the house's best Purple Haze and Green Haze parents were crossed with the F10 Panama Elite. The outcome was a Haze-dominant F1 hybrid that Ace Seeds lists as 100% Sativa – with 18 to 23% THC and under 1% CBD. According to the breeder, the Panama side contributes to flower density, resin production, potency and duration of effect; at the same time, the indoor suitability of the Haze was improved and the flowering time shortened without crossing in Indica or Skunk genetics. As regular seed, the strain yields male and female plants. A Panama from the breeder is available on its own as Panama Regular; Super Panama Haze also comes from Ace Seeds.
Who Is Panama Haze For?
Panama Haze demands time and space and delivers pure Sativa character in return. It suits:
- Haze lovers looking for classic citrus, spice and incense aromas
- Growers who can plan for 13 to 16 weeks of flowering
- Selectors and hobby breeders who work with regular Sativa seeds
- Indoor growers with strong lighting and sufficient headroom
- Consumers who appreciate a long-lasting, psychedelic effect
If you want to harvest quickly or grow outdoors in Central Europe without a greenhouse, you are better served by an earlier-ripening strain. You can find more pure Sativas under 100% Sativa.
Growing Panama Haze: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, Panama Haze needs 13 to 16 weeks of flowering – considerably more than most hybrids, but according to Ace Seeds already shortened for a pure Haze Sativa. The breeder describes a tall, flexible plant with strong lateral branching and recommends high light intensity for the best results. When it comes to feeding, a medium nutrient supply over the entire cycle is sufficient, with slightly less nitrogen. The pliable shoots can be tied down to keep the height in check. Ace Seeds describes the yield as high without quantifying it in g/m². More on light and training can be found in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to the breeder, the strain achieves the best results in tropical and subtropical climates. In coastal locations with a warm autumn, cultivation is possible up to the 43rd parallel, in continental or highland climates up to the 35th. Harvest is not until November. Central Europe lies north of this limit; here, a greenhouse is practically the only option. Ace Seeds credits the strain with high resistance to grey mould and heat, average to high resistance to mildew, whitefly and cold, and average resistance to spider mites. The breeder does not state a yield per plant. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Panama Haze
Ace Seeds describes the bouquet of Panama Haze as lemony, spicy and incense-like – according to the breeder, the classic Haze aromas were accentuated even more strongly in this cross. The manufacturer does not state a lab terpene profile. It characterises the effect as deep, long-lasting, hypnotic and psychedelic, in other words typical of Haze; the Panama genetics are said to further support potency and duration of effect. With 18 to 23% THC at under 1% CBD, the strain is strong, and a long effect described as psychedelic is not something to take lightly: take your time and feel your way in with small amounts. As plants from regular seed do not turn out identical, the expression can also differ. How intensely you experience the effect depends on dose and personal tolerance.
