Depending on which manufacturer figure you go by, it flowers for 9 to 11 weeks, grows 100 to 180 cm tall indoors and yields 500 to 600 g/m² with 22% THC; outdoors it is harvested in mid-October. A very fruity flavour and a euphoric, energetic high with a clear head are typical. The vigorous strain suits Sativa fans with plenty of space – in the 100% Sativa category. Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Pure Durban
According to Anesia Seeds, Pure Durban comes from South Africa, from the "Valley of 1,000 Hills", which owes its name to the many green hills around the Umgeni River. According to the breeder, the landrace grows there on small hills kept moist by the water mist of nearby waterfalls. Anesia Seeds feminised this pure Sativa and, in its own words, combined its original and best qualities in the process. The fact sheet gives the THC content as 22%; the manufacturer does not state a CBD value. The plants form branches of varying length with dense, light green foliage and elongated flowers densely covered with white crystals. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod. Another landrace selection from the same breeder in our range is Congo, Landraces.
Who Is Pure Durban For?
Pure Durban is an original Sativa with vigorous vertical growth. It suits:
- Sativa fans looking for pure landrace genetics
- Indoor growers who work with ScrOG or SOG
- Outdoor gardeners with room for plants up to 3.5 m tall
- Gardeners in regions with shorter summers, for which the breeder expressly names the strain
- Consumers who appreciate an energetic high with clear focus
Because of its height, the strain is less suitable for low rooms or inconspicuous gardens. You can find more Sativas under Sativa strains.
Growing Pure Durban: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
For the flowering time, Anesia Seeds gives 9 to 11 weeks in the fact sheet and 9 to 10 weeks elsewhere – so it is better to plan for the longer range. Indoors, Pure Durban grows 100 to 180 cm tall depending on the figure, and in one place there is talk of about 150 cm. The manufacturer speaks of enormous growth and therefore recommends ScrOG (Screen of Green); according to the breeder, the strain also responds well to SOG. According to its figures, the yield is 500 to 600 g/m². The flowers become long and very resinous, lime green with splashes of orange and purple. Flowering only begins after the switch to 12/12; a short vegetative phase helps to limit the height. You will find more on training in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to the manufacturer, Pure Durban can grow up to 3.5 m tall; the fact sheet states 300 to 350 cm. It is harvested in mid-October, and according to Anesia Seeds the yield is 850 g per plant or more. Because of its flowering time, which is relatively short for a Sativa landrace, the strain is also suitable for regions with shorter summers, according to the breeder. Plan enough space because of the height. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Pure Durban
According to Anesia Seeds, Pure Durban has a very fruity flavour and smell that intensifies enormously during curing; the fact sheet also mentions pine and sweets. The manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. The breeder describes the effect as strongly euphoric, with thoughts remaining clearly focused, combined with an extremely energetic buzz. It also relates that the Zulu living in the Durban region say the plant gives warriors strength for battle – a piece of lore, not a statement about the effect. The effect described points more towards the daytime than the late evening. According to the fact sheet, the THC content is 22%. How intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
