Genetics & Origin of Rotten Apple
Rotten Apple emerged from Perfect Tree's Jet A Reversal project. For it, the breeders crossed their selection of Lemon Butter Cream by Alien Genetics – a cross of Triangle Kush and Sour Apple IBL – with their Jet A Reversal; Jet A originally comes from Exotic Genetix. According to Perfect Tree, the aim was to combine the fuel and gas terpenes of Triangle Kush and Jet A with Sour Apple. The breeder simply lists the strain as a hybrid, without percentages for Indica and Sativa. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod. Perfect Tree does not state a THC value; the content is generally given as high. A CBD value is not stated. You will find a strain by the name of Sour Apple as a separate item in our range.
Who Is Rotten Apple For?
Rotten Apple is aimed at growers for whom a distinctive aroma matters more than a data sheet. It suits:
- Aroma hunters looking for an unusual apple-gas profile
- Growers with limited room height who prefer short to medium-sized plants
- Indoor growers who want to harvest after 8 weeks of flowering
- Selectors who would like to find a plant to keep
- Fans of sticky, compact flowers
It is less suitable if you need firm figures on THC or yield as a basis for your decision – the breeder does not give them. You can find more strains with short flowering under High Yield & Short Flowering.
Growing Rotten Apple: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Perfect Tree gives the flowering time as 8 weeks; as a photoperiod strain, Rotten Apple only flowers after the switch to 12/12. According to the breeder, the plants mostly stay shorter than medium-sized, and the flowers become sticky and chunky. It rates the yield as high without giving a figure in g/m². According to the breeder there are only a few phenotype variations – if you germinate several seeds, you can still look for a plant to keep. Compact, sticky flowers benefit from good air movement, and the intense smell makes a carbon filter sensible. You will find the basics in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to the breeder, Rotten Apple is ready for harvest in early October. A height for outdoors is not quantified; the growth is described as short to medium. Perfect Tree does not put a figure on yield per plant either. Choose a sunny, sheltered spot so that the compact flowers stay dry until harvest. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Rotten Apple
The aroma is the hallmark of this strain. Perfect Tree describes an exotic, fermented scent of the kind found under apple trees shortly before harvest, when the first fruits are already lying on the ground – but overall sweet and fresh like ripe apples, carried by fuel and gas notes. Some phenotypes turn out even sweeter and, according to the breeder, are reminiscent of freshly baked caramel and apple cider syrup. The manufacturer does not name individual terpenes. It does not comment on the effect either; it is described as balanced, physically relaxing and at the same time mentally stimulating. The THC content is considered high; a reliable figure is not available. How intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
Note: Effect information is based on manufacturer data and user experience and does not constitute medical advice.
