Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Royal Moby
According to Royal Queen Seeds, the name Royal Moby is a homage to Moby Dick, the legendary sea monster – effect and growth are meant to be just as overwhelming. The manufacturer is tight-lipped about the cross: it speaks of an unspecified Sativa/Indica hybrid with Amnesia-like traits. The strain was originally bred in Spain and developed further by Royal Queen Seeds. It is Sativa-dominant but, at 9 to 10 weeks, flowers for a comparatively short time, which the breeder attributes to the heritage of the Indica ancestors. It gives the THC content as over 21% and the CBD content as low. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod. The widely branched, typically Sativa structure with countless resinous buds is characteristic. Another Haze strain from the same house is Shining Silver Haze.
Who Is Royal Moby For?
Royal Moby is a tall-growing Sativa hybrid that makes demands. It suits:
- Experienced growers who can reliably look after heavy-feeding plants
- Outdoor gardeners in a Mediterranean climate with space for plants 2 to 3 metres tall
- Indoor growers with a high room and strong lighting
- Haze lovers who do not want to wait out an overlong flowering time
- Consumers with tolerance looking for a psychedelic, creative high
Royal Moby is less suitable for a first grow and for small tents; the manufacturer, too, sees it with experienced growers. You can find larger packs for extensive projects under Bulk Seeds.
Growing Royal Moby: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, Royal Moby flowers for 9 to 10 weeks. The data sheet gives the height as 80 to 140 cm, while elsewhere the manufacturer speaks of up to 1.6 m – so plan in some headroom. According to Royal Queen Seeds, the yield is 550 to 600 g/m². The strain has a high nutrient requirement and needs plenty of light and space. With the widely branched Sativa structure, it is worth topping early or tying the shoots under a net so that the canopy stays even. Keep the vegetative phase short if your room is low. You will find the basics on feeding and training in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, Royal Moby grows 200 to 300 cm tall, and according to the manufacturer even taller. In the northern hemisphere, harvest is in early to mid October. Royal Queen Seeds states 650 to 700 g per plant, and up to 1,000 g under optimal conditions. According to the manufacturer, the strain feels most at home in Mediterranean and tropical climates. In cooler regions, a sheltered spot in full sun is important. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Royal Moby
Royal Queen Seeds describes the scent of Royal Moby as intense, fresh and slightly spicy, the flavour as fruity and citrusy with earthy undertones – a typical Haze character with a fresh kick. The manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. The effect is clearly Sativa-leaning: highly psychoactive, energetic and “trippy”, yet clear, creative and long-lasting. According to the breeder, there is also a slight physical stoned effect. It sees the strain for creative excursions and intense flights of thought. With over 21% THC and a low CBD content, Royal Moby is strong; if you have little tolerance, you should keep the dose low and choose a calm setting. How intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
