Genetics & Origin of Runtz Ghost Train
Runtz Ghost Train is one of the newer creations from Rare Dankness, a cannabis genetics company founded in 2010. The mother is a Runtz, which was crossed with Ghost Train Haze #1. According to the breeder, Runtz is regarded as the godmother of the "Candy Gas" genre: extremely sweet, candy-like terpenes combined with a funky gas note. The smoke of candied fruit comes from the Runtz mother, while Ghost Train Haze contributes plenty of THC and sugar-like trichomes. Rare Dankness lists the strain as a hybrid; the breeder does not state an Indica to Sativa ratio or a THC value in per cent. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod. The Haze side of the cross is available from the same breeder as Ghost Train Haze #1 Regular, and you will also find a Runtz by Barney's Farm in our range.
Who Is Runtz Ghost Train For?
Runtz Ghost Train combines candy aroma with Haze influence. It suits:
- Fans of sweet "Candy Gas" aromas with lemon and Haze
- Growers who can plan for 9 to 11 weeks of flowering
- Indoor gardeners with strong lighting and good ventilation
- Collectors of US genetics from the house of Rare Dankness
- Consumers looking for a euphoric, long-lasting effect
It is less suitable for very low rooms or for anyone expecting maximum yields – the breeder speaks of larger plants and a medium yield. You can find more strains of this kind under feminised seeds.
Growing Runtz Ghost Train: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
For the flowering time, Rare Dankness states 65 to 78 days, and 9 to 11 weeks in the data sheet; elsewhere the breeder speaks of 65 to 75 days. So plan for a good nine to eleven weeks after the switch to 12/12 and decide on the basis of the trichomes. According to the breeder, the plants grow on the larger side and like plenty of good light and good air circulation – it does not give a height in centimetres. Powerful lamps, air circulation and timely training help to control growth in the tent. Rare Dankness rates the yield as medium, without a figure in g/m². You will find the basics on light and climate in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Rare Dankness lists the strain for indoors and outdoors. The breeder does not state a harvest date, a height or a yield per plant for open ground. With up to eleven weeks of flowering, it ripens rather late; a warm, sunny spot with a dry autumn or a greenhouse is therefore the safe choice. Outdoors, too, make sure the spot is airy. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Runtz Ghost Train
Rare Dankness describes aroma and flavour as decidedly smooth and sweet: candied fruit from the Runtz side, plus fruity notes, lemon and Haze. Added to this is the "Candy Gas" note for which Runtz is known, according to the breeder. The manufacturer does not name individual terpenes or a lab terpene profile. The flowers are studded with sugary-looking trichomes and, according to its information, also stand out visually. It describes the effect as intensely euphoric and uplifting – and as extremely long-lasting. According to Rare Dankness, Ghost Train Haze brings a strong dose of THC with it; however, the breeder does not state a percentage. So dose carefully. How strong the effect is depends on dose and personal tolerance.
