Serious 7 Seeds – Early Outdoor Sativa by Serious Seeds
What is Serious 7? Serious 7 by Serious Seeds is a feminised, photoperiod F1 hybrid and almost pure Sativa that was developed specifically for outdoor growing. In Central Europe it ripens in the second half of September, resists mould better than many other strains and, according to the manufacturer, yields 500 to 1,000 g per plant. The lemony, aniseed-like scent, which stays comparatively discreet in the garden, is typical. It is aimed at outdoor growers in cooler regions – you will find it in the outdoor seeds category. Available in a pack of 6 seeds.

Genetics & Origin of Serious 7
Serious 7 is a further development of the well-known outdoor strain Serious 6. By its own account, Serious Seeds worked for many years on improving Serious 6 and in the process found an outstanding mother plant from its white phenotype. The original plan was a version that flowers pink throughout; the result instead is a line with exclusively white pistils. Genetically it is an F1 hybrid and almost pure Sativa. Compared with its predecessor, Serious 7 is more uniform in every respect, slightly more vigorous, more resinous and less tall. Before the strain went on sale, the breeder gave it away as promo seeds to buyers of Serious 6 – and added it permanently to the range because of the many enquiries. If you are looking for the original strain with its pink pistils, you will find it as Serious 6 Regular.
Who Is Serious 7 For?
Serious 7 was bred for a clearly defined target group. It is particularly suited to:
- Outdoor growers in Central Europe who want to harvest before the bad autumn weather
- Gardeners in damp locations who need a mould-resistant strain
- Growers with neighbours, for whom less height and a more discreet smell matter
- Hash lovers looking for a resinous Sativa for collecting trichomes
- Growers who value uniform plants and a shared harvest window
For purely indoor growers it is not the first choice, as the breeder has no experience to draw on. You can find more Sativa-leaning strains under Sativa strains.
Growing Serious 7: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Serious 7 is a dedicated outdoor strain. The breeder writes openly that flowering and selection took place exclusively outdoors and that he therefore cannot give well-founded advice for growing under artificial light. Serious Seeds merely suspects that the 7 could be a much better choice for indoor growing than Serious 6, which can tend towards hermaphroditism indoors. Anyone who tries it anyway should work with a short vegetative phase of 2 to 3 weeks and watch the plants closely. You will find general basics on indoor growing in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, Serious 7 plays to its strengths. It ripens earlier than most other strains: in the Netherlands, large parts of Great Britain and Germany in the second half of September, in southern France or Spain sometimes even before September. Flowering time is around 8 weeks. The flowers grow large and mostly stay free of fungal infection, and the manufacturer states 500 to 1,000 g per plant. Plants germinated early grow bigger but stay lower than Serious 6. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Serious 7
The smell of Serious 7 resembles that of Serious 6: lemony and aniseed-like with spicy undertones. In the garden, however, it is usually less pungent according to the manufacturer – an advantage for anyone who wants to grow discreetly. The high density of resin crystals is striking and makes the strain interesting for hash making. Serious Seeds gives no further details on the effect, nor on lab values for terpenes or THC. How it turns out in each case depends on phenotype, harvest time, dose and tolerance.

Frequently Asked Questions about Serious 7
Can I grow Serious 7 indoors?
The breeder selected the strain outdoors only and gives no well-founded recommendations for growing under artificial light. He suspects that it is better suited to this than Serious 6 but asks for grow reports himself.
How does Serious 7 differ from Serious 6?
Serious 7 is more uniform, slightly more vigorous, more resinous and grows less tall. It always has white rather than pink pistils and usually smells less pungent in the garden than Serious 6.
When is Serious 7 harvested in Germany?
According to the manufacturer, in the second half of September, as in the Netherlands and large parts of Great Britain. The further south, the earlier: in southern France or Spain, harvest can begin even before September.
Is Serious 7 mould-resistant?
According to the manufacturer, the large flowers mostly stay free of fungal infection, even under conditions in which other strains are affected. The early harvest before the autumn weather lowers the risk further.
Why is Serious 7 suitable for gardens with neighbours?
It grows less tall than Serious 6 and usually smells less pungent in the garden. Plants germinated early do grow bigger, however, so the height can be controlled via the sowing date.
