Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Skunk 47
Skunk 47 brings together two of the best-known names in cannabis breeding. According to the strain description, Skunk #1 is the classic with Afghan, Mexican and Colombian roots, AK-47 a famous hybrid with a fast flowering time and a Sativa-dominant effect. From these, World of Seeds has bred an Indica-dominant hybrid that is meant to combine classic Skunk flavour with fast flowering and a strong effect; the manufacturer does not state exact Indica and Sativa shares. It gives the THC content as 20%; a CBD value is missing. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod – flowering only begins after the switch to 12/12. You will also find both parent strains individually from other breeders in our range: Skunk #1 by Barney's Farm and AK-47 by Serious Seeds.
Who Is Skunk 47 For?
Skunk 47 combines old-school aroma with a short flowering time. It suits:
- Fans of classic Skunk aromas with a citrus note
- Indoor growers who want to harvest after 55 to 60 days of flowering
- Growers who work in SCROG or SOG
- Outdoor gardeners looking for a strain resistant to mould and pests
- Consumers who prefer a physically relaxing effect in the evening
It is less suitable if a subtle smell matters to you or you are looking for a stimulating daytime strain – the scent is intense, the effect body-focused. You can find more strains with a short flowering time under High Yield & Short Flowering.
Growing Skunk 47: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, according to World of Seeds, Skunk 47 flowers for 55 to 60 days and delivers 400 to 500 g/m². The plants grow bushy and vigorous but, according to the manufacturer, remain easily controllable; it does not state a height in centimetres. Because of the bushy growth and the high resin production, the breeder recommends SCROG or SOG. In SCROG you spread the shoots out under a net; in SOG many small plants stand close together and go into flower early. The flowers become compact and resinous and smell strongly of Skunk and citrus – a powerful carbon filter is necessary in the grow room. With the compact flowers, also ensure air movement. You will find more on the methods in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to the manufacturer, Skunk 47 is ready for harvest in early October and delivers 400 to 600 g per plant. World of Seeds describes the strain as very adaptable and credits it with high resistance to mould and pests. The breeder does not give a plant height for outdoors. A sunny spot with loose soil remains the foundation. You can find more open-ground strains under outdoor seeds. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Skunk 47
The scent of Skunk 47 is skunky and intense with citrus-fruit notes; World of Seeds describes the flavour as fruity, tart and classically skunky. The manufacturer highlights the strain as particularly aromatic; it does not give a lab terpene profile. It portrays the effect as strongly physical, relaxing and slightly narcotic – more a strain for the evening than for active hours. The strain description does name AK-47 as a parent with a Sativa-dominant effect, but for Skunk 47 itself the physical side is to the fore. According to World of Seeds, the THC content is 20%; a CBD value is not stated. How intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
