Genetics & Origin of Strawberry AKeil
Strawberry AKeil – pronounced “Strawberry AKyle” – was created in a collaboration between Serious Seeds and King Keil, a German hip-hop artist and cannabis connoisseur. The breeding goal was frosty, trichome-covered flowers with an intense strawberry aroma and a strong effect. To this end, the breeder refined the combination of the mother AK-47 and the father Bubble Gum and initially released the strain as a limited edition. According to Serious Seeds, the predominantly Sativa F1 hybrid combines the resin content and effect of AK-47 with the strawberry aroma and flavour of Bubble Gum. King Keil tried several phenotypes during development and dedicated a song to the strain on his album “Weedman Returns”. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod. The strain description lacks a THC value; on its website the breeder gives around 20% THC and 1% CBD.
Who Is Strawberry AKeil For?
Strawberry AKeil combines strawberry aroma with the character of AK-47. It suits:
- Fans of AK-47 looking for a fruity variant
- Aroma lovers who like an intense strawberry aroma
- Indoor growers who want to harvest after 56 to 63 days of flowering
- Growers who appreciate flowers heavily covered in trichomes
- Consumers looking first for a creative high and then for relaxation
If you have to grow inconspicuously, you should bear in mind the overwhelmingly strong fruity smell – the strain is less suitable for that. You can find more strains for the grow room under feminised indoor seeds.
Growing Strawberry AKeil: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, Strawberry AKeil flowers for 56 to 63 days. For seedlings, Serious Seeds recommends a vegetative phase of about four to five weeks; the breeder gives the yield as 400 to 500 g/m². The plants grow medium-tall and form an abundance of flowers with a great many trichomes. Even during flowering they smell of fresh strawberries, and according to the manufacturer the buds fill any grow room with an overwhelmingly strong, fruity aroma – a powerful carbon filter is therefore part of the basic equipment. The breeder gives no specific height figures or training recommendations. You will find the basics on climate and odour control in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
For growing outdoors, Serious Seeds states a harvest time of early to mid-October. The manufacturer gives no details on height outdoors or on yield per plant. A sunny spot sheltered from the wind helps the resinous flowers to ripen dry in autumn; in regions where rain sets in early, rain protection or a greenhouse makes sense. You should also plan for the strong smell outdoors. You can find more strains for open ground under feminised outdoor seeds. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Strawberry AKeil
The strawberry aroma is the hallmark of Strawberry AKeil: Serious Seeds describes the scent of fresh strawberries even during flowering and a delicious strawberry aroma in the flavour, which the breeder traces back to Bubble Gum. The flowers are frosty and densely covered in trichomes. The manufacturer does not state a lab terpene profile. It describes the effect as strong: it begins with a creative, uplifting high and then turns into a relaxing stone. According to Serious Seeds, the resin content and effect come from AK-47. There is no THC value in the strain description; the breeder's website gives around 20% THC and 1% CBD. How intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
