Genetics & Origin of Super Silver Bilbo
Super Silver Bilbo is Genehtik's interpretation of Super Silver Haze: a selection of this well-known Haze line that the breeder has had in its range since 1998. In 2005 it won the BIO prize at the Highlife show in Barcelona; the manufacturer describes it as a multiple award winner and as one of the most popular Haze strains in Spain. The strain is mostly Sativa; Genehtik states 70% Sativa and 30% Indica. Unusual for a Sativa are the compact, heavy and resinous flowers. Towards the end of flowering, the calyxes twist into a spiral – a visual identifying feature. The breeder gives the THC content as 17 to 21% and the CBD content as 0.17 to 0.40%. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod. For comparison, you will also find Super Silver Haze by Green House Seeds in our range.
Who Is Super Silver Bilbo For?
Super Silver Bilbo is a Haze for growers with space. It suits:
- Haze lovers looking for the classic incense aroma
- Outdoor gardeners, including in northern latitudes, who value mould resistance
- Growers with high rooms or a greenhouse
- Open-ground gardeners who have plenty of space and pay attention to yield
- Consumers who prefer a clear, creative effect for the daytime
The tall-growing strain is less suitable for low grow boxes, and if you want to harvest early outdoors, you should bear in mind the harvest time of October to November. You can find more strains for open ground under outdoor seeds.
Growing Super Silver Bilbo: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, Genehtik gives the flowering time as 65 to 75 days; according to the breeder, full ripeness is reached after about 70 to 75 days. The manufacturer gives the yield as 400 to 500 g/m². The plants grow large, as is typical of Sativas – the manufacturer does not state a height in centimetres. So send them into flower after a short vegetative phase or keep them flat with topping and tying down. Genehtik describes the strain as robust but space-intensive. The compact, heavy flowers need supports and good air movement towards the end. When the calyxes twist into a spiral, harvest is approaching. More on training tall plants can be found in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors and in the greenhouse, Super Silver Bilbo is harvested from October to November in the northern hemisphere and, according to the manufacturer, in April and May in the southern hemisphere. The manufacturer states 1,000 to 1,800 g per plant – for this the plants need plenty of root space and room to grow upwards. According to Genehtik, the strain is very resistant to mould and is also suitable for northern latitudes. Because of the late harvest, a sunny, airy spot nevertheless remains important. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Super Silver Bilbo
Super Silver Bilbo smells the way you would expect of a Haze: Genehtik describes the scent as metallic and spicy with a distinct incense note. The flavour is intense, with a long-lasting frankincense note. The manufacturer does not state a lab terpene profile. The breeder describes the effect as clear, creative and stimulating – suitable for the daytime, for activities, creative work and sociable get-togethers. Genehtik gives the THC content as 17 to 21% and the CBD content as 0.17 to 0.40%; according to the manufacturer, the strain is better suited to active hours than to bedtime. If you are sensitive to stimulating Sativas, it is best to start with a small amount. How strong the effect is depends on dose and personal tolerance.
