Super Skunk was bred by the Dutch seed company Sensi Seeds, the result of a long-running breeding project in which numerous Afghani cultivars were crossed with true-breeding Skunk #1 in search of the perfect genotype. It was only the expansion of the Sensi gene library at the end of the 1980s with fresh Afghanica cultivars that made the final version of this Skunk-Afghani hybrid possible. Released in 1990, Super Skunk immediately picked up the mostly-indica Cannabis Cup and, at 80% indica, ranks among the most potent members of the Skunk line.
