Genetics & Origin of Tropicana Cookies Purple
Tropicana Cookies Purple combines two lines, both of which Royal Queen Seeds describes as legendary. Tropicana Cookies is regarded as the flagship strain of the breeder Harry Palms and, according to the manufacturer, won the IC 420 Grower's Cup in 2019; the original Tropicana Cookies from Bloom Seeds was used. It was crossed with Purple Punch, itself a descendant of Granddaddy Purple and Larry OG. The result is a 60% Sativa-dominant hybrid with 40% Indica which, according to RQS, brings complex aromas and a somewhat more physical effect. The data sheet states 22% THC, while elsewhere the manufacturer speaks of over 22%; the CBD content is low. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod, so flowering only begins after the light cycle is switched.
Who Is Tropicana Cookies Purple For?
Royal Queen Seeds says it bred Tropicana Cookies Purple specifically for home growing. It suits:
- Growers who want to work with ScrOG or SOG in a tent
- Lovers of purple-coloured flowers with a dense layer of trichomes
- Aroma fans looking for berry, citrus and pastry notes in one strain
- Outdoor gardeners who can harvest by early October
- Consumers who appreciate a strong strain with around 22% THC
It is less suitable for very low rooms, as it reaches 100 to 150 cm indoors, and for occasional consumers the THC content is high. You can find more strains for the tent under feminised indoor seeds.
Growing Tropicana Cookies Purple: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
In rooms or tents, according to the manufacturer, vigorous plants of 100 to 150 cm develop. Because of its dense structure, the strain is well suited to ScrOG or SOG, according to Royal Queen Seeds. Flowering time is 8 to 10 weeks; the data sheet gives the yield as 500 to 550 g/m², while elsewhere the manufacturer states 550 g/m². The buds are dense, purple-coloured and heavily covered in trichomes – good air movement in the tent is sensible as a matter of principle with such compact flowers. You will find the basics on ScrOG, SOG and climate control in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, Royal Queen Seeds expects plants 140 to 180 cm tall. Harvest is by early October, and the data sheet states 550 to 600 g per plant. The manufacturer gives no information on the preferred climate; a sunny spot sheltered from the wind helps the flowers to ripen cleanly into autumn. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Tropicana Cookies Purple
Royal Queen Seeds describes the aroma in layers: first sweet notes of blueberries and grape sweets with the sharp bite of Kool-Aid, then brighter tones of ripe orange and tropical fruit, and finally blueberry muffin, pastry and fresh biscuits. The data sheet lists blueberry, sweets and fruity. The manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. According to its information, the effect sets in just a few minutes after the first draw: at first a noticeable pressure behind the eyes and a happy, carefree mood, later a slowly building, tingling body stone that relaxes the muscles. The data sheet sums this up as balanced, calming, physically relaxing and uplifting. At around 22% THC, the intensity depends on dose and tolerance.
