Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Wedding Cake
Wedding Cake goes back to the Pink Cookies genetics which, according to Barney's Farm, were originally created by Seed Junky Genetics and are also known under the name Wedding Cake. From these, the breeder selected an even more strongly Indica-dominant version with 80% Indica and 20% Sativa. According to its account, the high potency comes mainly from the Girl Scout Cookies side; Cherry Pie was crossed in, which in turn brings OG, Durban Poison and Granddaddy Purple heritage. The data sheet lists the genetics as Cherry Pie × Girl Scout Cookies × OG Kush. The manufacturer gives the THC content as 27%. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod. Girl Scout Cookies from Barney's Farm is also available in the shop, plus a Wedding Cake from Royal Queen Seeds for comparison.
Who Is Wedding Cake For?
Wedding Cake combines high potency with a short flowering time. It suits:
- Indoor gardeners with limited height, as the plants stay at 90 to 100 cm
- Impatient growers who would like to harvest after around eight weeks of flowering
- Outdoor gardeners with room for plants 180 to 200 cm tall and a harvest at the end of September
- Lovers of vanilla and skunk aromas and very resinous flowers
- Experienced consumers who know how to handle 27% THC
If you are looking for a mild strain or a clearly stimulating Sativa high, this is not the best fit. You can find more potent strains under Super High THC Content.
Growing Wedding Cake: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, according to the data sheet, Wedding Cake flowers for 55 to 60 days; elsewhere the manufacturer speaks of just eight weeks. At 90 to 100 cm it stays compact, and Barney's Farm states 600 to 700 g/m². The flowers are covered all over in resin crystals – hence the name – and show delicate purple and pink tones during flowering. The manufacturer gives no specific training recommendations. With resinous flowers, good air movement in the final weeks pays off, and a carbon filter helps against the sweet, skunky smell. You will find the basics on growing in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, Wedding Cake grows 180 to 200 cm tall and, according to Barney's Farm, is ready for harvest at the end of September, in the third to fourth week of September. As the yield, Barney's Farm states 1.5 kg per plant, elsewhere up to two kilograms. For such quantities you should plan for plenty of root space. A sunny spot and sturdy supports make sense in any case. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Wedding Cake
Barney's Farm describes the scent of Wedding Cake as sweet-and-sour and earthy, with unmistakable vanilla aromas and skunky undertones. The manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. In its words, the strain is valued for its euphoric and relaxing properties; the data sheet lists the keywords relaxed, happy, euphoric, uplifted and creative. The looks are striking: the dense covering of resin crystals is reminiscent of the icing on a wedding cake. With 27% THC, the breeder calls the strain highly potent, and it attributes the potency to the Girl Scout Cookies heritage. If you have little experience, you should start cautiously. How intense the effect is depends on dose and personal tolerance.
