Genetics & Origin of Zkittlez 2.0
The original Zkittlez was developed in California by Terphogz (Tony Mendo) and Greenfieldz and, with its unmistakable fruit aroma, has secured a firm place among modern US strains. Silent Seeds sees Zkittlez 2.0 as a further development of this original: for the new version, Zkittlez Original was crossed with White Runtz. The breeder's aim was to preserve the character of the original while making the aroma spectrum richer and more complex and giving the plant a more robust vegetative structure. The result is an Indica-dominant hybrid with 17 to 22% THC and a low CBD content. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod, so flowering only begins after the light cycle is switched. You can find more strains with Californian roots in the US Genetics category.
Who Is Zkittlez 2.0 For?
Zkittlez 2.0 is above all a strain for connoisseurs. It suits:
- Aroma fans looking for an intense, tropical-sweet terpene profile
- Indoor growers who want a predictable harvest with 56 to 63 days of flowering
- Outdoor gardeners with room for plants up to 2.5 m tall
- Consumers who prefer a balanced effect to a heavy stone
- Growers who enjoy shaping branched plants with training
If you are looking for plants that stay as low as possible or for record THC values, you are more likely to find them in other strains. The feminised seeds category gives an overview of all female strains.
Growing Zkittlez 2.0: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Zkittlez 2.0 grows medium to tall, with wide spacing between the nodes and plenty of side branching. This open structure ensures good air circulation but calls for some planning in terms of room height; topping, LST or a net help to build an even canopy. Flowering time is 56 to 63 days, and according to the manufacturer the yield is 450 to 500 g/m². The flowers are compact, rather round and evenly dense. The strain develops its tropical aroma in the very first weeks of flowering – a carbon filter is recommended. You will find the basics of plant training in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, Zkittlez 2.0 shows its full size potential: the manufacturer states a height of around 2.5 m and up to 1,300 g per plant. Harvest falls at the end of September to early October. Because of its size, the plant needs plenty of space, sun and, with heavy side branches, support. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Zkittlez 2.0
The real added value of Zkittlez 2.0 is its aroma spectrum. The scent is intense, complex, fruity and sweet, reminiscent of tropical cocktails and fresh exotic fruit. On inhaling, a slightly bitter, tropical flavour fills the mouth and lingers on the palate. Silent Seeds does not give a lab terpene profile. The manufacturer describes the effect as thoroughly positive: a feeling of joy and inner calm in which physical and mental sensations are balanced despite the Indica dominance. With 17 to 22% THC the strain is strong but not extreme; the intensity depends on dose and tolerance.
