Genetics & Origin of Ztrawberry
For Ztrawberry, Green House Seeds brought together two lines from its own house. The breeder counts A.M.S. among the most classic strains in its catalogue; by its account, it is known for its mould resistance under extreme conditions and its flavour of red fruits. The second parent is the in-house selection of Runtz, a cross of Zkittlez × Gelato33. The result is meant to combine the power and terpene profile of new US strains with the vitality, mould resistance and sweetness of A.M.S. The manufacturer states 60% Indica and 40% Sativa, plus 22.48% THC, 0.239% CBD and 0.08% CBN. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod, so flowering only begins after the switch to 12/12. If you are looking for a Runtz without the A.M.S. cross, you will find Runtz by Barney's Farm in our range.
Who Is Ztrawberry For?
Ztrawberry combines modern dessert aromas with an early harvest outdoors. It suits:
- Outdoor gardeners with plenty of space for tall, bushy plants
- Growers for whom a harvest in late September and the mould resistance of the A.M.S. line are important
- Fans of sweet strawberry and Zkittlez aromas
- Growers who appreciate very compact, sticky flowers
- Consumers looking for a strain that, according to the manufacturer, is suitable throughout the day
Ztrawberry is less suitable for small gardens or balconies: at 160 to 280 cm outdoors, it needs room. You can find more strains with a short flowering time under High Yield & Short Flowering.
Growing Ztrawberry: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Under artificial light, Ztrawberry flowers for 8 to 9 weeks; Green House Seeds calls the yield “high” without supplying a figure in g/m². The plant grows with a strong, bushy structure. Thanks to the A.M.S. line, the distances between the nodes are shorter than in Runtz, but according to the manufacturer the plant retains the “sharp” leaf characteristics of Runtz. By its account, the sturdy branches can carry a certain amount of weight. The flowers are conical in shape, have large, round calyxes and become extremely compact under a thick layer of very sticky trichomes. The breeder does not give an indoor height; with bushy growth, it helps to thin out in good time so that air moves through the crop. You will find the basics on this in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
For open ground, Green House Seeds gives its most precise figures: an average height of 160 to 280 cm, harvest in late September and a yield of 1,200 g per plant. The early ripening and the mould resistance that the breeder attributes to the A.M.S. line speak in favour of growing outdoors. Allow sufficient spacing and support heavy branches if necessary. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Ztrawberry
Green House Seeds describes the smell as a mixture of both parents: the extreme sweetness of A.M.S. with a red-fruit, strawberry-like, sharp aroma, plus the combination of sweetness and acidity typical of Zkittlez and, in the background, the creaminess and earthy notes of Gelato. The breeder speaks of a complex bouquet that fills all areas of the palate; it does not name individual terpenes. By its account, the effect sets in immediately and lasts a long time: the strong kick of the Gelato side comes on quickly and slowly fades into a Sativa-like head buzz from A.M.S. For this reason it considers Ztrawberry a strain that is suitable throughout the day. At 22.48% THC it is strong; how intense its effect is depends on dose and tolerance.
