Genetics & Origin of ZZ4
Behind the abbreviation ZZ4 is a three-way cross: Cookies gives the lineage as (GG4 × Zkittlez) × Medellin and calls the strain the offspring of Gorittlez and Medellin. In the breeder's words, balanced hybrids come together here to create a particularly harmonious strain. The data sheet simply says “hybrid”; Cookies does not state a fixed Indica/Sativa ratio. The seeds are feminised and photoperiod, so flowering only sets in after the light cycle is switched to 12/12. The THC content is given as 22%, the CBD content as virtually zero. Cookies particularly highlights the growth: robust, resilient and with thick, dense colas that are said to still impress after harvest. From the same house comes Dried Fruits, another cross with Zkittlez in its family tree.
Who Is ZZ4 For?
ZZ4 combines good-looking flowers with a manageable flowering time. It suits:
- Growers who value dense, visually appealing colas
- Indoor gardeners who plan for 8 to 9 weeks of flowering
- Outdoor growers who can harvest by mid-October
- Fans of GG4 and Zkittlez crosses from US breeding
- Consumers who like an effect that is first euphoric, then physically relaxing
ZZ4 is less suitable if you are looking for a particularly low plant for very small grow cabinets – at 100 to 130 cm it needs some room. You can find more hybrids under feminised seeds.
Growing ZZ4: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
In the grow room, ZZ4 flowers for 8 to 9 weeks according to Cookies, and the manufacturer states a yield of 400 to 450 g/m². The height is given as 100 to 130 cm, so the plants stay medium-tall. Cookies calls the strain robust and resilient and describes thick, dense colas. That is precisely why good air movement is worthwhile in the final weeks of flowering, so that no moisture builds up in the compact flowers. You can secure heavy main shoots with stakes or a net. You will find the basics on climate, training and harvest timing in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
For open ground, Cookies states 450 to 500 g per plant. The manufacturer does not give a growth height for outdoors – so it is better to plan the space generously. Harvest is given as late September to mid-October. A sunny spot sheltered from the wind helps to bring the dense flowers through the autumn dry. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of ZZ4
Cookies itself does not name any individual flavour notes and says only that ZZ4 hits exactly the right spot with cannabis lovers. The aroma is described as earthy, sweet and fruity, accompanied by a caramel note. The manufacturer does not state a lab terpene profile. The effect is considered balanced: it begins euphorically and then turns into physical relaxation. The THC content is given as 22%, the CBD content as virtually zero. This makes ZZ4 a strong strain for which a low dose is advisable to start with. Visually, the breeder promises a great deal – the growth and the look of the flowers after harvest are said to convince. How strong the effect is in an individual case depends on dose and individual tolerance.
