Genetics & Origin of Auto Black Orchid
Auto Black Orchid is the autoflowering version of Black Orchid, which Original Sensible Seeds calls its Indica flagship product. For this, Black Orchid – a combination of Gelato and OG Kush – was crossed with XL Auto. The breeder classifies the strain as predominantly Indica without stating a percentage, and calls it its most potent Indica autoflower to date: the data sheet shows 25% THC. Original Sensible Seeds does not give a CBD value. The seeds are feminised and flower independently of the light cycle. According to the breeder, the strain took third place at the Autoflower World Cup 2025 in Barcelona. If you would like to get to know the Gelato side of the genetics as a photoperiod strain, you will find Gelato by Original Sensible Seeds in our range.

- Indoor gardeners with limited height – the plants stay at 60 to 120 cm

Growing Auto Black Orchid: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
As an autoflower, Auto Black Orchid does not need the light cycle to be switched. Original Sensible Seeds gives the life cycle as 65 to 70 days, so less than ten weeks pass from seed to harvest; the breeder does not state a separate flowering time. Indoors, the plants grow 60 to 120 cm tall. The manufacturer puts the yield at 550 to 650 g/m², and the data sheet lists 650 g/m². It describes the flowers as heavy and densely covered in trichomes – good air movement and controlled humidity therefore pay off in the final weeks. You will find the basics of growing autoflowering strains in the Growpedia.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to the breeder, Auto Black Orchid likewise reaches 60 to 120 cm and produces about 150 g per plant. Original Sensible Seeds lists it for cool, temperate and hot climates. The data sheet gives September as the harvest month; with an autoflower, however, the actual date depends on the time of sowing, because the cycle runs independently of day length. A spot in full sun helps to make the most of the plant's short lifespan. You can find more strains for outdoors under automatic seeds outdoor. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Terpenes of Auto Black Orchid
In terms of flavour, Original Sensible Seeds describes lush, creamy berry aromas with citrus notes, sweet and fruity. The data sheet names myrcene as the dominant terpene, alongside caryophyllene and pinene. According to the breeder, the effect sets in immediately in the head and turns into a pleasant physical stoned feeling that leads to a relaxed, dreamy mood – the manufacturer speaks of the strain keeping you pinned to the couch. It describes the potency level as overwhelming, which fits the stated 25% THC. This makes Auto Black Orchid more of a strain for the evening and for consumers who are used to strong Indicas. How intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
