Manufacturer Information
Genetics & Origin of Auto Mokum's Tulip
Auto Mokum's Tulip is the autoflowering version of the photoperiod Mokum's Tulip. By its own account, Dutch Passion developed it because customers had asked for an autoflower version of the original strain. Mokum's Tulip is based on American Gelato and Sherbet genetics and thus belongs to the Cookies family; for the auto version it was crossed with the company's own Auto Colorado Cookies. The result is a feminised hybrid with 15 to 20% THC and hard, compact, very resinous flowers. The manufacturer speaks of four phenotypes, some of which show purple tones in the flowers. Dutch Passion does not state the proportions of Indica and Sativa, nor a CBD value. If you would like to compare an autoflower with Gelato in its name from another breeder, you will find Auto Cookies Gelato by Royal Queen Seeds in our range.
Who Is Auto Mokum's Tulip For?
Auto Mokum's Tulip combines American dessert aromas with compact growth. It suits:
- Beginners looking for an autoflower without any special feeding or growing techniques
- Growers with little headroom, because the plants stay at 50 to 100 cm
- Fans of the Gelato, Sherbet and Cookies flavours
- Hash and rosin makers who also make use of the resinous trim
- Balcony and garden growers with a sunny spot sheltered from rain
It is less suitable for damp locations and for guerrilla growing in temperate climates because, according to the manufacturer, it is more susceptible to mould when humidity stays high. You can find more autoflowering strains under autoflowering seeds.
Growing Auto Mokum's Tulip: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Dutch Passion gives the cycle from seed to harvest as around 11 to 12 weeks, and elsewhere as 80 to 85 days, in each case under 18 or 20 hours of light. The plants grow 50 to 100 cm tall and, because of their compact growth, hardly need training according to the manufacturer. Under good conditions, according to the manufacturer, 400 to 500 g/m² are possible; on your first run you should aim for 300 to 400 g/m² instead. The tricky point is the climate: at high humidity the strain becomes more susceptible to mould and top rot. The breeder therefore recommends keeping humidity below 40% where possible, an additional clip fan and an airy substrate in Airpots or fabric pots. More on this in the tips for beginners.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to the manufacturer, the strain thrives best in warm, dry regions such as the Mediterranean. Dutch Passion considers it suitable for temperate climates only to a limited extent; in a pot on the balcony or in the garden it copes if it stands in the sun, is protected from rain and gets a natural breeze. Avoid shade, windless corners and poorly ventilated greenhouses. The breeder gives the yield as 50 to 100 g per plant. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Auto Mokum's Tulip
Dutch Passion describes the scent as sweet, floral, creamy and fruity; added to this are vanilla notes, which the breeder highlights as a special feature. Some phenotypes lean slightly towards the diesel and Kush side, though less so than the photoperiod Mokum's Tulip. Cream, fruit and sweets dominate the flavour. The manufacturer speaks of an exceptional terpene profile but names neither individual terpenes nor lab values. It describes the effect as a hybrid high with physical and mental components: relaxing, calming and slightly euphoric, with the physical side usually turning out somewhat stronger. The high is considered strong and relatively long-lasting, and Dutch Passion sees the strain as one for any time of day. At 15 to 20% THC, the intensity depends on dose and personal tolerance.
