Genetics & Origin of Auto White Widow
White Widow took Amsterdam by storm in the 1990s and is still regarded today as one of the best-known cannabis strains of all. For the autoflowering version, Nirvana crossed White Widow with Northern Lights Automatic. The result is a predominantly Indica-leaning plant with a stocky appearance that flowers independently of the light cycle and, according to the manufacturer, produces enormous amounts of resin. The large trichomes and the many resin-covered sugar leaves to which the strain owes its name make it a tip for hashish producers. Like many members of the White family, it is considered resistant to hot and cold weather and to pathogens such as mildew and mould. The seeds are feminised. If you prefer the photoperiod original strain, you will find White Widow by Silent Seeds in our range.

Growing Auto White Widow: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
Indoors, the plants are ready to harvest 77 to 84 days after sowing, most of them after about 80 days. The light cycle does not need to be switched. Auto White Widow grows with one central main cola and medium-sized side branches into an open structure that lets plenty of air and light through, and reaches 90 to 120 cm. Under good conditions, Nirvana states up to 450 g/m² when the plants stand close together. Training is not necessary; if you want shorter plants, tie them down after the third week. The strain is easy to trim and smells less strongly than many others. The tips for beginners offer help with getting started.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, the strain is finished in about 80 days from seed to harvest and, thanks to the short cycle, can be planted several times a year; according to the manufacturer, it achieves the best results between May and August. Under very good conditions, 120 g per plant is possible. It also does well in small pots as a Sea of Green. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Auto White Widow
The aroma of Auto White Widow is strong, pronounced and very earthy, with notes of spices and pepper and a floral touch; when smoked, a fruity aftertaste follows. The manufacturer does not give a lab terpene profile. Nirvana describes the effect as uplifting, mentally stimulating and euphoric, combined with concentration and only a gentle physical effect – a strain for creative work, walks and sociable get-togethers. At 14 to 18% THC, the manufacturer rates it as medium-strength and recommends it for use from morning to evening. How intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
