Genetics & Origin of Auto White Widow
White Widow is one of the best-known cannabis strains of all; its origins go back to the early 1990s. With Auto White Widow, Pyramid Seeds offers the automatically flowering version and names White Widow as the genetics. The breeder gives the ratio as 50% Sativa to 50% Indica; it gives no further details on the breeding line. According to the manufacturer, the auto version retains the sweetish flavour and strong effect of the original but needs considerably less time and attention. Pyramid Seeds puts the THC content at 20 to 23% and the CBD content at below 1%. The seeds are feminised and 100% autoflowering, so there is no need to switch the light cycle. The Sativa-leaning Auto Nefertiti, which also contains White Widow, comes from the same house.

Growing Auto White Widow: Indoor & Outdoor
Indoor Growing
For indoor growing, Pyramid Seeds states a height of 80 to 160 cm and a yield of around 450 g/m². From germination to harvest, the manufacturer reckons on around 65 days, or 58 days under LED lighting – this is the entire cycle, not just flowering. As an autoflower, the strain goes into flower regardless of the length of the light period. The manufacturer describes growth as uncomplicated and productive. Because autoflowering plants have only a short vegetative phase, it pays to sow straight into the final pot and avoid the stress of repotting. At the end, judge ripeness by the trichomes rather than by the calendar. You will find more basics for getting started in the Growpedia with tips for beginners.
Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, according to the manufacturer, Auto White Widow yields 70 to 200 g per plant. Pyramid Seeds describes two possible runs: if sown in April or May, harvest is in July or August; if sown in June or July, in September or October. According to the manufacturer, the strain is suitable for garden and balcony. A sunny spot sheltered from the wind in the warm season brings the best results. Only grow where it is legal to do so.
Effect, Aroma & Terpenes of Auto White Widow
In terms of flavour, Auto White Widow stays true to the original, according to Pyramid Seeds: sweet like candyfloss or sweets, with a sweetish, slightly spicy scent. The manufacturer names myrcene, caryophyllene and pinene as the dominant terpenes; it gives no amounts for them. The breeder calls the effect pleasantly strong and balanced between physical relaxation and mental clarity – an all-rounder for everyday life and for relaxed evenings. At 20 to 23% THC the strain is strong; the CBD content is below 1%. If you have little experience with cannabis, start with a small amount: how intense the effect is depends on dose and individual tolerance.
