Helvetic Seeds now offers the clone-only strain as feminised seeds; according to the manufacturer, it was selected by a befriended American breeder who also selected Lemon Larry OG. Gelato itself is a cross of Sunset Sherbet and the Thin Mint cut of Girl Scout Cookies. The seed line mainly shows two phenotypes: about two thirds of the plants belong to phenotype 1 with 30% Indica and 70% Sativa, around one third to phenotype 2, a typical 50/50 hybrid. Helvetic Seeds does not state values for THC and CBD. The strain is photoperiod. It does not state a height in centimetres – but the difference between the phenotypes is important: phenotype 1 grows Sativa-dominant but forms dense, very resinous flowers of the kind known from Indicas; phenotype 2 shows the growth of a typical 50/50 hybrid with enormous buds. Outdoor Growing
Outdoors, Helvetic Seeds names early to mid October as the harvest time and also rates the yield as very high, at over 500 g per plant. The manufacturer does not give an outdoor height. A sunny, sheltered spot helps to bring the dense flowers safely through autumn; you should support heavy side shoots in good time. Effect, Aroma & Flavour of Gelato 45
On the scent, Helvetic Seeds only says that the flowers of phenotype 1 smell incredible. Mint, chocolate, sweet berries, skunk and citrus are given as scent notes. The resin is striking: according to the manufacturer, phenotype 1 bears dense, very resinous flowers with enormous calyxes, while phenotype 2 has somewhat less resin but is still well above the norm.
